While some people believe that the best way of learning about life is by listening to the advice of family and friends; others believe personal experience is the best way to learn about life. Personally, I consider that 'personal experience' is not only helpful to learn about life but also develops an appropriate attitude towards life in order to succeed in life. In my opinion, the best way to learn about life is through personal experience because until and unless one is not experienced, he/she can not actually learn about the real life problems.
First of all, one have to trust oneself, realize one's own targets and should never give up in any difficult situation. We should face the problems with a smile on our face and trust me, time is the biggest teacher that teaches us very well about the life. Yes many a times listening to the advice of our family and friends may act as a guiding light but it is the one and only you that have to take the initiative to get out of the problem and face the life.We can learn best through by trusting ourselves and making out the best possible solution.
Additionally, our elders advice is also based on their own personal experience. May be whatever problem we are facing today, they may have faced earlier in their lives. And it might be possible that whatever the solution they had found then, will not be able to solve our problem today. For example, our horse and buggy generation will not understand the real problems we are facing today due to unemployment. They can advice you for opting various careers according to their own choices without realizing the fact that world has changed a lot and there are much more bright careeres other than engineering and medical. So, in such a case one should take the decision based on the personal choice, judgement and experience.
Lastly, performing or facing a challenge is always better than listening to the advices only. Until and unless, we do not perform a particular task or face a challenge, we cannot grow better. For example, an instructor can only guide or advice about the topic or an issue, but until the student do not personally experience that problem or do not work hard on that problem, he /she will always be stucked to that problem. Therefore, it is the student only who have to take the initiative and perform better.
In conlusion to my opinion, it is essential to believe in yourself and learn through personal experience. Although, one should listen to the advice of others but should have enough confidence to face the life and come up as a shinning star to appreciate the beauty of life.

This is not a bad discussion, but i think it would be better served if you had used personal examples to show how you have learned about life through your own experiences. Good job, otherwise.
