Any leader who is quickly and easily influenced by shifts in popular opinion will accomplish little.

Write a response in which you discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the statement and explain your reasoning for the position you take. In developing and supporting your position, you should consider ways in which the statement might or might not hold true and explain how these considerations shape your position.

Leaders, representative of people, play an important role in political, cultural and social aspect of a nation. Today, where almost every country and organization is practising democratic principles, the responsibility of these leaders have been increased as they are supposed to strike a balance with the evolving technological-scientific needs and mingling up of existing thought patterns altogether. Thus, the importance of leaders can't be denied.

A leader is a role model as he/she assesses resources in hand and then distribute them for their efficient use to get best out of it. But if he/she is influenced by the change in public opinion that will lead to a chaotic situation. He has to be vigilant-who can foresee the coming problems, creative- to allocate the factors to get best possible out of it and of convergent thinking- so that he can take the necessary decisions at apt time without getting pressurized from external thoughts or views. If he/she easily changes his ideology, principles then people will loose their trust in him/her. Thus, leader has to be a person of firm determination and clear vision.

Conisder the case of father of nation of India- Mahatma Gandhi- During the pre-independence era, some other school of thought emerged up that used violent measures to fight against British Government. Even at that time Gandhi remain engrossed with his principles of truth and non-violence. His Dandi March, Quit India Movement, Satyagraha etc sensitized the British Empire about the power of a fragile human being. What if he would have changed his values, the people would never have considered him as a national hero. He himself understood that 'its is easier to preach than to practice' , that is the reason even after facing many hardships he remained determined. People like Nelson Mandela, Kofi Anan, Mother Teresa not only set examples for future but also act as an exemplary for their contemporaries. Thus, a leader should never get fluctuated but has to take consistent efforts to attain the prosperity of nation and public support with him.

However, we can't deny the fact that 'change is the law of nature'. With the passage of time, a society changes its norms, values, principles and thus demand for a shift in the ideology of their leader. In such a case, if leader is not supporting their views, will lead to public aggression. Since leader is representative of people, he has to give a patient ear to listen their views and support with true spirit so that natives can relate with their leader. Consider Adolf Hitler, Stalin etc- leaders having autocratic attributes are considered as the most negative personalities in the World. Leader is not to give verdict but to encourage the participatory tendencies with the common people so that he can connect with the people well. the seminars, brain-storming sessions, conferences etc are arranged now-a-days to provide a common platform where every individual can put forward his valid ideas and thoughts.

In this regard, the chief minister of Indian state AndhraPradesh- Mr. Chandarbabu Naydu played a tremendous job. He dedicated one hour of his schedule to the natives of state so that people can directly contact him and tell about the exact problems. Any venture has a multi directional aspect in which 'rule of one' can never be justified. Hence, the leaders should try to change their manifestos or existing values according to valid demands of society.

In a nutshell, I can conclude that leaders are indeed a precious element for any organization or nation as their personalities reflect the basic ideology of institution. Their knowledge base has to be vast to differentiate between the reasonable and unreasonable demands and decisions has to be flexible enough to mould accordingly.
