This argument states a study  about the consumption trends of seafood dishes in Bay City restaurants that although these have increased by 30% during the past five years but  still there is not a single restaurant which is specialised in seafood only. The author had mentioned that most of the families in this particular city are two- income families whose habits of eating home cooked food have reduced significantly during the past ten years. So, new Captain Seafood restaurant which is popular for seafood should be famous and profitable.

The major shortcomings in this particular argument is that it is based on a survey conducted on large number of people and we are not sure about the ageny that is surveying, the method adopted by agency , the sample quality and size taken by that agency so the results are doubtful. Secondly the appropraite quantity is not mentioned .

The first and the foremost thing is that the whole data is based on a survey which is not reliable as there are many factors which influence the outcomings of a survey like the first factor is the agency or body involved in its conductance. There is a possibility that Captain Seafood restaurant have done this study by there own and their is no involvement of city administration. In such case it will be very difficult to trust on these people because it is obvious that they will try to promote their  own products rather then degrading them so as  to attract more and more customers. The second thing is that  the author has not mentioned the method involved in its conduction whether it is interview based or observation based. The observation based method would be more reliable and adequate. The major drawbacks in  interview based method would be that there are chances of  respondants becoming defensive and the questions might not be relevant to the main topic. The other thing is that the sample taken might not be the representatives of the population . There is a possibility that the people involved in survey are more homogeneous and they are fond of eating seafood , there taste might be same  instead of this heterogeneou sample would be better.

The other thing is that the author hasn't mentioned the actual quantity involved. He had only mentioned that the consumption trends have increased by 30 % but there is a possibility of declination in cost and profitability. There are chances that may be the costs , revenue involved in this business is  constantly fluctuating and  there is no profit left and that is why there is none of the operating restaurant which is specialised in seafood only. Secondly 30 % increase in consumption means 6% annual increase which is not a very good figure to attract maor customers.

At  end the conclusion is that if the author had  provided  the information more accurately and clear the argument could have been more better so the credibility of this argument is doubtful.
