(a) is a blatant assumption not specified in the Q. First, Just because the author favors Sen theory does not make the theory with empirical support "FALSE". This is too strong and unnecessary assumption. And author favoring the Sen theory is not the same as Sen theory having any "predictive success", also author did not favor Sen theory because the theory with empirical support is "FALSE"
