6 Pitfalls to Avoid - To Score High on the GRE

6 Pitfalls to Avoid - To Score High on the GRE

By / Feb 13, 2019

Everyone is preparing for the GRE but are you doing it the right way?

This is the first question that strikes when we embark on the road to GRE exam preparation but while many remain clueless to decide the next step, you can decide what to do by watching out for these common traps that everyone falls for.

Starting on a stranded road: Majority of potential test-takers simply start their preparation without knowing exactly where to begin. This is one of the greatest blunders you will make when you begin your GRE-prep journey. The solution, donít rush! Get to know your weak areas with TCY Diagnostic Test. Subsequently, you can work on those weak areas in order to have a stronger foundation.

Ignoring GRE Quantitative section: A lot of students commit this mistake when they lean too much on the verbal section and turn a blind eye to the GRE Quantitative section. Donít do this! You should try to attempt every single question as all correct answers in this section will take your score higher.

Escaping from the GRE Verbal section: A good score in GRE Verbal section can be quite beneficial as it will improve your overall score. But while preparing for it, donít just mug up odd lists of vocabulary provided by every site on earth. Strategic preparation coupled with exhaustive practice will go a long way in paving your path to a perfect score.

Attempting tests with only 4 sections: Donít fall for programs which only offer a GRE mock test with only 4 sections. Try full length GRE simulated mock tests from TCY with 5 sections similar to revised GRE. One additional section will help you build endurance and give you exam-based preparation.

Keeping the Official Guide aside: Donít just let that ETS Official Guide to GRE with Power Prep rest in your bookshelf. Refer it whenever you get the chance to get a feel of the actual test and prepare yourself better.

Keeping it for the last minute: Unlike your college exams, GRE is not an exam that can be prepared just in one night. It requires extensive preparation and comprehensive practice. Avoid studying anything new just a day before the D-day. Just quickly revise what you have already studied and you are all set.

An excellent GRE score will just be within your reach when you prepare with TCY.
