Türkiye will host COP31, the 31st Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, in Antalya from 9 to 20 November 2026. The venue is the Antalya EXPO Center in Soğucaksu. Delegates from around the world will discuss climate mitigation, adaptation, climate finance, and the implementation of the Paris Agreement. Türkiye will lead the hosting duties, with Australia taking a leading role in negotiations. The conference provides a platform for governments to advance collective climate action and set future steps. India’s participation and climate diplomacy stance will be closely watched by observers and participants.

Ankush Panghal Wins Asian Games Gold in Men’s 80 kg Boxing at Aichi-Nagoya
An Indian boxer, Ankush Panghal, won the gold medal in the men's 80 kilogram category at the 2026 Asian Games held in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan. Panghal secured the title on 2 October 2026, delivering a composed performance in the final against South Korea's Minseong Kim. The triumph gave India its first Asian Games gold in this weight class, a milestone for the national boxing program. The victory came on a day when Indian boxing also claimed two additional gold medals through Lovlina Borgohain and Parveen Hooda, helping India to finish with a strong boxing showing. Panghal's gold adds momentum to India’s ongoing push in amateur boxing and national team development.
Panghal won the men's 80 kg boxing gold at the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya on 2 October 2026.
India also won golds in Lovlina Borgohain (women's 75 kg) and Parveen Hooda (women's 65 kg) on the same day.
This is India's first Asian Games gold in the 80 kg weight class.

Odisha Announces ₹11 Lakh Reward for Indian Women’s Hockey Team
Odisha announced a cash reward of ₹11 lakh for each player of the Indian women’s hockey team after their gold medal victory at the 2026 Asian Games. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi made the announcement, saying that players would receive ₹11 lakh each, while members of the support staff would get ₹5.5 lakh each. The prize recognises the team’s historic success and aims to encourage continued excellence in hockey. The decision follows India’s Asian Games gold, which boosted national pride in hockey and related sports programs. The reward signals strong state support for national teams competing on the world stage.
Odisha announced ₹11 lakh per player and ₹5.5 lakh per staff member for the women’s hockey team.

5th Kautilya Economic Conclave Held in New Delhi, 3–5 October 2026
The 5th Kautilya Economic Conclave (KEC) 2026 was held in New Delhi from 3 to 5 October 2026 under the theme “Resilience in an Age of Flux.” The Institute of Economic Growth (IEG) organised the event in partnership with the Ministry of Finance. Policymakers, economists, academics, business leaders, and other experts discussed economic and policy issues and shared actionable ideas. Vice-President C. P. Radhakrishnan delivered the inaugural address. The conclave focused on strengthening resilience amid rapid global economic and geopolitical changes, with panels on growth, reform, and innovation. It provided a platform for policy recommendations to support India’s economy in a challenging environment.

Bank of India Launches User-Level Programmable CBDC with Auto-Issuance
Bank of India announced the launch of User-Level Programmable Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) with Auto-Issuance on its digital rupee platform. The capability, developed with Montran India, follows guidelines from the Reserve Bank of India and the National Payments Corporation of India. It enables users to schedule recurring transfers of e₹ to a beneficiary’s CBDC wallet by specifying the amount and frequency, and also to define the purpose for which funds may be used. The feature aims to make digital money more programmable and suitable for targeted payments, such as allowances or subsidies. The rollout reflects India's advancing CBDC program and private–public technology collaboration in payments.
