Mahesh Dixit Appointed Director of the Intelligence Bureau
Senior IPS officer Mahesh Dixit, from the 1993 batch of the Andhra Pradesh cadre, was appointed Director of the Intelligence Bureau (IB) in June 2026. He succeeds Tapan Kumar Deka, whose extended tenure ends on 30 June 2026, and will serve a two-year term. Dixit previously held the position of Special Director in the IB before his elevation. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) cleared the appointment, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
