PM Modi Attends Celebrations for 70th Birth Anniversary of Bhutan's Fourth King

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi embarked on a two-day visit to Bhutan. The visit underscored the ongoing tradition of high-level exchanges between the two nations and is aimed at further deepening the special friendship and cooperation between Bharat and Bhutan.
  • During the visit, Modi and the King of Bhutan, Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, inaugurated the one thousand twenty megawatt Punatsangchhu-II Hydroelectric Project. The project was jointly developed by India and Bhutan.
  • The Prime Minister attended the celebrations dedicated to the 70th birth anniversary of the Fourth King of Bhutan, Jigme Singye Wangchuck and also meet his counterpart, Tshering Tobgay.

President Murmu to Attend Angola's 50th Independence Day Celebrations in Luanda

  • President Droupadi Murmu attended 50th Independence Day celebrations of Angola in Luanda. Earlier this year in May, Angolan President João Lourenço had paid a successful visit to New Delhi. He had then extended an invitation to President Murmu to participate in the 50th anniversary celebrations of Angola's independence. Addressing the Angolan Parliament, President Murmu said that India had consistently supported the Angolan freedom struggle.

Thailand Suspends US-Brokered Peace Agreement with Cambodia after Border Landmine Blast

  • Thailand suspended the implementation of a United States-brokered peace agreement with neighbouring Cambodia after a landmine blast near their border injured two of its soldiers.
  • Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul said after the incident that all action set to be carried out under the truce will be halted until Thailand's demands, which remain unspecified, are met.
  • There was no immediate response from the Cambodian government. Thai Defence Minister Natthaphon Narkphanit said the army is still investigating whether the mine was newly laid.
  • Thailand has previously accused Cambodia of laying new mines in violation of the truce, a charge that the Cambodian government denies.
  • Thailand and Cambodia signed a ceasefire on the sidelines of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) summit in Malaysia last month after territorial disputes between the two Southeast Asian countries led to five days of border clashes in July.

Diageo Brings in Former Tesco Chief Dave Lewis to Revive Growth

  • Diageo appointed former Tesco boss Dave Lewis as its CEO in November 2025, ending a months-long search and turning to an outsider to revive growth at the world's largest spirits maker during a challenging period for the drinks industry.
  • Lewis, 60, will join Diageo at the start of 2026 and will be tasked with turning around the Johnnie Walker whisky and Guinness beer maker, which last week downgraded its sales and profit outlook for fiscal 2026 and whose shares are hovering near a decade low.
  • Shares in the drinks group, which also makes Don Julio tequila, jumped 7% on news of Lewis' appointment on Monday and were headed for their biggest one-day percentage gain since November 2020.

Britannia Appoints Rakshit Hargave as New CEO After Varun Berry Resigns

  • FMCG major Britannia Industries has announced a significant change in its top leadership. Varun Berry has resigned from his position as Vice Chairman, Managing Director, and Chief Executive Officer, effective from the close of business on November 10, 2025. The company has appointed Rakshit Hargave as its new Chief Executive Officer and additional whole-time director, signaling a new chapter for the food products giant.
  • This transition marks the end of a pivotal era for Britannia, as Berry has been at the helm for nearly 13 years. In a BSE filing, the company confirmed the leadership change. Hargave's appointment is set for a five-year term, scheduled to begin on December 15, 2025. His appointment is subject to the approval of the company's shareholders.

Punit Lalbhai Appointed Chairman of Anup Engineering

  • Anup Engineering Ltd (TAEL) has announced a change in its board leadership following the resignation of Sanjay S Lalbhai as Chairman and Non-Executive Director. The decision was taken at the company's board meeting in November 2025.
  • TAEL stated that Sanjay Lalbhai stepped down as part of its succession planning process. "As part of our succession planning and to ensure continuity in leadership, I have decided to step down from my position. I am confident that under Punit's leadership, TAEL will continue to build on its strong foundation and deliver sustainable, long-term value for all stakeholders. With this, the board has appointed Punit S Lalbhai, currently Vice-Chairman and Non-Executive Director, as Chairman with effect from November 10, 2025. He will lead the company alongside Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Reginaldo D'Souza.

  • The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has launched its new Aadhaar app, offering 140 crore citizens a secure way to carry their digital Aadhaar card on smartphones. The free app is now available for download on Google Play Store and Apple App Store, eliminating the need to carry physical Aadhaar cards for identity verification. The Aadhar app introduces facial recognition technology, biometric locks, and QR code-based sharing to protect user privacy. Families can now manage up to five Aadhaar profiles on a single device, provided all cards share the same registered mobile number.

LS Speaker Birla to Inaugurates CPA India Conference of Northeastern States

  • Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla inaugurated the 22nd Annual Conference of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) India Region Zone-III in Kohima, Nagaland, in November 2025.
  • The two-day conference saw the participation of presiding officers and lawmakers from eight Northeastern states.
  • "The CPA conference deliberated on ways and means to bring assembly proceedings closer to the people in the context of the changes ushered in by the age of artificial intelligence and the digital revolution," Birla told reporters on his arrival at Dimapur.
  • The conference also discussed issues such as cloudbursts and landslides in the Northeast region and the mitigation measures in this regard.
  • Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh, and Nagaland Assembly Speaker and Chairman, CPA India Region Zone-III, Sharingain Longkumer were present at the conference.

ICG Organises 23rd National Maritime Search and Rescue Board Meeting in Gandhinagar

  • Indian Coast Guard (ICG) organised the 23rd National Maritime Search and Rescue (NMSAR) Board meeting in November 2025 in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. The meeting focused on enhancing inter-agency coordination and collaboration among stakeholders to strengthen India's overall search and rescue (SAR) framework. Discussions centred on leveraging technology and modern communication systems to improve operational efficiency and maritime safety standards.
  • National SAR awards for the year 2023-24 were also presented during the meeting. Following are the awards:
    - MV He Yuan Shun 89, a Panama-flagged vessel, received the award in the Merchant Vessel category
    - Indian Fishing Boat Kedarnath Bhole was awarded in the Fishing Boat category
    - ICG Ship Rajveer received the award for the Government-owned SAR Unit category
    - Vessel Traffic System (VTS), Mumbai Port Authority and Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) were jointly felicitated in the Ashore Unit category.

India and Vietnam Signs MoU on Mutual Submarine Search and Rescue Cooperation

  • In a significant step towards strengthening bilateral defence relations, India and Vietnam on Monday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Mutual Submarine Search, Rescue Support and Cooperation on the sidelines of the 15th India–Vietnam Defence Policy Dialogue (DPD).
  • The DPD, co-chaired by Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh and Deputy Minister of National Defence Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien, was held in Hanoi.

India-Sri Lanka Joint Military Exercise Begins in Belagavi

  • The eleventh edition of the joint military exercise MITRA SHAKTI-2025 between India and Sri Lanka began November 10, 2025 at the Foreign Training Node in Belagavi, Karnataka. The exercise will conclude on November 23.
  • According to the Ministry of Defence, the Indian contingent of 170 personnel is represented mainly by troops from the Rajput Regiment, while the Sri Lankan contingent of 135 personnel comprises troops primarily from the Gajaba Regiment. In addition, 20 personnel from the Indian Air Force and 10 personnel from the Sri Lankan Air Force are participating in the exercise.
  • The aim of the exercise is to jointly rehearse the conduct of sub-conventional operations under Chapter VII of the United Nations mandate, with a focus on enhancing interoperability in counter-terrorist operations. The training curriculum includes raid and search missions, heliborne operations, search-and-destroy tasks, Army Martial Arts Routine (AMAR), combat reflex shooting and yoga, the Ministry said.
  • The exercise integrates the employment of drones, counter-unmanned aerial systems and helicopters. Joint drills will include securing helipads and conducting casualty evacuation under operational conditions. The collective effort aims to enhance coordination between personnel of both armies in peacekeeping and counter-terror scenarios.

Shailesh Chandra Becomes First Indian to Head Global Auto Body OICA

  • The Organisation Internationale des Constructeurs d'Automobiles (OICA) has elected Shailesh Chandra, president of the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (Siam) and managing director and chief executive officer of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility, as its president for a term starting November 1, 2025. He succeeds John Bozzella, president and CEO of the Alliance for Automotive Innovation, USA. 
  • Chandra becomes the first Indian to head OICA, marking a significant milestone for India's presence in global automotive decision-making. "It is an honour to become the first OICA president from India, which highlights the organisation's global representation," he said. With the industry transitioning towards sustainable mobility and net-zero goals, he said OICA's role in acknowledging regional diversity will be crucial "as we collectively strive to make our vehicles more aspirational, safer and environmentally friendly."

  • Doyle said "Flesh" — a book "about living, and the strangeness of living" — emerged as the judges' unanimous choice after a five-hour meeting.
  • Szalay's book recounts the life of taciturn István, from a teenage relationship with an older woman through time as a struggling immigrant in Britain to denizen of London high society. The author has said he wanted to write about a Hungarian immigrant, and "about life as a physical experience, about what it's like to be a living body in the world."

Assam Cabinet Approves Bill to Ban Polygamy, Victims to get Compensation

  • The government of Assam has taken a landmark step by approving the Assam Prohibition of Polygamy Bill 2025. This move aims to prohibit the practice of polygamy — entering into more than one marriage while a first marriage subsists — making it a punishable offence. The legislation reflects the state's push toward legal uniformity in marriage practices and reinforcing women's rights.
    - The Bill seeks to make it illegal for an individual to marry another person if their first marriage still stands (i.e., they are not legally separated or divorced).
    - Offenders could face imprisonment for up to 7 years for violating the law.
    - A provision in the Bill allows for the establishment of a special compensation fund for women adversely affected by polygamous marriages.
    - The Bill will be tabled in the Assembly (scheduled for 25 November 2025) for legislative approval.
