Telangana Establishes Artificial Intelligence Innovation Hub

  • In a decisive move to position itself at the forefront of emerging technologies, the Government of Telangana announced the creation of the Telangana Artificial Intelligence Innovation Hub (TAIH) in Hyderabad. Spearheaded by the IT & Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu, the hub is envisaged as the central platform for AI�'based innovation, research and partnerships across academia, industry and start-ups. The goal: to secure a place among the top 20 AI hubs globally by 2035.

The 53rd Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Memorial Indoor Tournament

  • The 53rd Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Memorial Indoor Tournament (SSBMT) 2025, organised by the Central Institute of Mining and Fuel Research, which concluded in November.
  • A total of 83 participants from various laboratories of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) are taking part in this prestigious sporting event. The participating laboratories include CSIR–Central Road Research Institute (CRRI), New Delhi; CSIR–National Chemical Laboratory (NCL), Pune; CSIR–Central Building Research Institute (CBRI), Uttarakhand; CSIR–Indian Institute of Toxicology Research (IITR), Lucknow; CSIR–Central Mechanical Engineering Research Institute (CMERI), Durgapur; and CSIR–National Institute of Oceanography (NIO), Goa.

Union Minister Manohar Lal Inaugurates Urban Mobility India Conference and Exhibition

  • The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), Government of India, organised the Curtain Raiser event for the 18th Urban Mobility India (UMI) Conference and Exhibition 2025 in Gurugram, Haryana with the theme of 'Urban Development and Mobility Nexus'. The UMI Conference and Exhibition is chaired by Jaideep, Officer on Special Duty (Urban Transport), Dr. Chander Shekhar Khare, Managing Director, Gurugram Metro Rail Ltd., and other senior officials.
  • Speaking at the Curtain Raiser, Jaideep, highlighted the focus of this year's event on enhancing urban mobility through integrated planning and sustainable transport solutions. He recalled that the National Urban Transport Policy (NUTP), 2006 lays strong emphasis on developing capabilities at the State and City levels to address emerging challenges in urban transport and promote equitable and sustainable systems for all sections of society.
  • The three-day event includes eight technical sessions, eight roundtables, and two plenary sessions, featuring participation from national and international experts. These deliberations will contribute to evidence-based policymaking and the advancement of sustainable mobility solutions.

Manohar Lal, Union Minister of Power, Housing and Urban Affairs Releases Commemorative Coin to Celebrate Golden Jubilee of NHPC Limited

  • Manohar Lal, Union Minister of Power, Housing and Urban Affairs released a Commemorative Coin of 50 Rupees to commemorate 50 years of NHPC at New Delhi in the presence of Pankaj Agarwal, Secretary (Power), Ministry of Power, Government of India, Bhupender Gupta, CMD, NHPC and Uttam Lal, Director (Personnel), NHPC. NHPC Limited, India's Premier Hydropower Navratna Company under the Ministry of Power, is marking a momentous milestone- completing 50 years of its establishment on November 7, 2025.
  • Manohar Lal also released a special publication, a comic book titled 'Chhota Bheem aur Bada Bandh' which has been created based on 'Chhota Bheem' and his supporting characters, with the aim of conveying the message of importance and benefits of hydropower to the children and the general public through engaging storytelling and vibrant illustrations.

Indian Navy Commissions 'Ikshak'

  • The Indian Navy enhanced its hydrographic survey capabilities with the commissioning of Ikshak, the third ship of the Survey Vessel (Large) [SVL] class and the first to be based at the Southern Naval Command.
  • The ship was formally commissioned into service in the presence of Indian Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, at a ceremony at Naval Base, Kochi.
  • Built by Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE) Ltd, Kolkata, Ikshak stands as a shining example of India's growing self-reliance in shipbuilding.

Veteran Singer-Actor Sulakshana Pandit Passes Away

  • Sulakshana Pandit, a celebrated name in Indian cinema known for her dual contributions as a playback singer and actress, passed away at the age of 71. Her death marks the end of a remarkable era in Bollywood, particularly the vibrant 1970s and 80s, when her voice and screen presence were deeply cherished by audiences.
  • Sulakshana began her musical journey at the tender age of nine and made her playback singing debut in 1967. She rose to prominence with her soulful number Tu Hi Sagar Hai Tu Hi Kinara from Sankalp (1975), which earned her the Filmfare Award for Best Female Playback Singer.
