ET Make in India SME Regional Summit to Debut in Raipur

  • Raipur, the capital city of Chhattisgarh, is set to host its first ET Make in India SME Regional Summit on October 30, 2025. The city has its stronghold in mineral-based industries like steel, iron and cement. It also serves as a major commercial hub for agriculture, agro-processing, forest products, and solar energy.
  • The Summit will begin with a keynote address on the topic 'The Chhattisgarh growth story: Empowering MSMEs for Viksit Bharat'.
  • This is the third annual edition of the ET Make in India Regional Summit series. In its inaugural year, the programme covered Ahmedabad, Chennai, and Hyderabad. The previous edition expanded its reach to 16 cities. This edition will cover 20 cities, including Thane, Nagpur, Nashik, Kochi and Baroda.

Centre Offers Article 371 to Ladakh amid Statehood Talks

  • In a significant political development, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has proposed granting Article 371-like provisions to Ladakh during a dialogue with the Leh Apex Body (LAB) and the Kargil Democratic Alliance (KDA). The talks came a month after deadly protests over the region's demand for statehood and constitutional safeguards, during which four people, including a Kargil war veteran, lost their lives in police action.
  • Since the reorganisation of Jammu & Kashmir in 2019, Ladakh has been functioning as a Union Territory without a legislature. Over the years, discontent has grown among locals, particularly regarding land rights, cultural identity, and political representation.

Kerala to Build First Underwater Tunnel Linking Vypin and Fort Kochi

  • In a historic infrastructure initiative, Kerala is set to build its first underwater tunnel, connecting Vypin and Fort Kochi, as part of the state's ambitious coastal highway development project. This engineering marvel will significantly reduce the current 16 km road distance to a 3 km sub-sea journey beneath the Arabian Sea, redefining connectivity in Kochi — one of India's busiest port cities.
  • The underwater tunnel will be developed by the Kerala Rail Development Corporation Limited (KRDCL) with an estimated cost of Rs. 2,672 crore.

  • Veteran space scientist and Padma Bhushan awardee Professor Eknath Vasant Chitnis, one of the earliest architects of India's space programme, passed away at the age of 100.
  • A close associate of Dr. Vikram Sarabhai, Chitnis was instrumental in shaping the Indian National Committee for Space Research (INCOSPAR), which evolved into today's Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).

IIM-Ahmedabad in top 50 (MBA and Master's), IIM-Calcutta in top 10 (Executive MBA): QS International Trade Rankings 2026

  • Indian Institute of Management (IIM) – Ahmedabad bagged the 32 position followed by the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (Indian Institute of Foreign Trade) at 71 slot in the global rankings for international trade education with its Master's in Global Management (MGM) programme. The Thunderbird School of Global Management at Arizona State University topped, while The National University of Singapore (NUS) followed at the second position and Durham University at third place for its MSc in International Business.
  • QS Quacquarelli Symonds, released the 2026 edition of the International Trade Rankings, in partnership with the Hinrich Foundation. This edition assessed 106 programmes across 31 countries. Additionally, 30 Executive MBAs are ranked across 14 countries.
  • University of Cambridge (University of Cambridge) secured number 1 position in the Executive MBA category, while IIM Calcutta has entered the top 10 category securing number 8 rank.

Ningol Chakouba 2025: Celebrating in Manipur

  • In Manipur, the festival of strengthening the bond of love between married ladies and their brothers, along with paternal families, Ningol Chakouba was celebrated. The festival is celebrated every year on the second day of Hiyangei month of the Meitei calendar. In this festival, the married ladies are invited to their paternal families for a feast to be had together with their brothers and other family members. After the feast, they are given gifts by their brothers. Ningol Chakouba is a Manipuri phrase meaning Ningol- married ladies and Chakouba- having a grand feast together.

  • As Chair, Justice Singh will lead this influential body, offering strategic direction for WIPO's global judicial engagement, especially in an era where intellectual property is central to innovation, digital governance, and economic development.
