Capgemini Appoints Sanjay Chalke as India CEO, Yardi to Retire in 2026

  • Paris-headquartered IT services and consulting firm Capgemini, in 2025, announced leadership changes at its India centre. The company said that Sanjay Chalke has been appointed chief executive officer (CEO) of Capgemini India from January 1, 2026, and will also join the Group Executive Committee. Chalke is currently the chief operating officer (COO) of the firm.

Indian Railways Launches First Assured Transit Time Container Train Between Delhi and Kolkata

  • Indian Railways launched its first assured transit time container train service on a pilot basis between Delhi and Kolkata, in October. The service will operate from ICD Tughlakabad Terminal, Delhi, to the CTCS Kolkata via Agra and Kanpur terminals of Container Corporation of India Limited- CONCOR. This special service is designed to ensure a guaranteed transit time of 120 hours, marking a significant milestone in the logistics sector.
  • Indian Railways, in a statement, said it will operate on a bi-weekly schedule, departing every Wednesday and Saturday. This pilot project is expected to provide multiple advantages to customers, including assured and reliable delivery for time-sensitive cargo, a competitive alternative to road transport and priority benefits for early adopters. It also contributes to sustainability by promoting a modal shift from road to rail, reducing the carbon footprint, and supporting India's commitment to green logistics.
  • Through this initiative, Indian Railways and CONCOR reaffirm their focus on customer-centric, reliable, and sustainable logistics solutions. The launch of this assured transit train service represents a transformative step towards a more efficient and environmentally responsible supply chain ecosystem.

Optiemus Enters into JV with Ordinary Theory 'to Create Smart Enterprise Hardware Solutions'

  • Noida-based telecommunications and manufacturing group, Optiemus Infracom, in September 2025, entered into a joint venture (JV) with the US-based Ordinary Theory LLC. The venture will focus on creating smart enterprise hardware solutions spanning payments, retail, logistics, and artificial intelligence (AI).
  • Built on a shared vision of innovation and technological leadership, the JV will play a pivotal role in advancing India's electronics manufacturing ecosystem and reinforcing the government's Make in India initiative, the company said adding that Optiemus will own a majority stake in the JV.
  • Ordinary Theory is a leading global design house renowned for its expertise in fintech, logistics, retail, and AI solutions.

  • Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri inaugurated the 5th Hockey India Senior Women's Inter-Department National Championship 2025 at Shivaji Stadium, scheduled from September 27 to October 4. The opening ceremony drew senior officials including Indian Oil Chairman A.S. Sahney, Hockey India President Dr. Dilip Kumar Tirkey, federation members, coaches, and excited schoolchildren.

Himachal Pradesh Chief Secy Prabodh Saxena Retires, Then Appointed Power Board's Chief

  • Himachal Pradesh chief secretary Prabodh Saxena superannuated in September after serving a six-month extension, but was appointed the chairman of Himachal Pradesh Electricity Board.
  • Originally, Saxena was to retire on March 31, but got an extension. State govt is yet to announce his successor for the chief secretary's post.
  • Electricity board chairman Sanjay Gupta has now been appointed as the head of the state pollution control board, confirmed the chief minister's principal media advisor, Naresh Chauhan.

9th Meeting of India-Uzbekistan Joint Working Group on Counter Terrorism

  • The 9th meeting of India-Uzbekistan Joint Working Group on Counter Terrorism held in Tashkent in 2025. The meeting was co-chaired by Dr. Vinod J. Bahade, Joint Secretary (Counter Terrorism), Ministry of External Affairs and Mr. Gulomjon Pirimkulov, Head of Department for Cooperation with South Asia, Middle East and Africa of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan.
  • The two sides discussed threats posed by terrorist groups globally and in their respective regions. Both sides exchanged views on current and emerging challenges to counter-terrorism including countering extremism and radicalization, combating financing of terrorism, preventing use of technology for terrorist purposes, nexus between transnational organized crime and terrorism and global movement of terrorists. Both sides condemned the dastardly terrorist attack on innocent civilians on 22 April 2025 in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, India.

Lt Gen Virendra Vats Takes Charge as Director General of NCC

  • Lieutenant General Virendra Vats assumed charge as the Director General of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) in 2025. Ministry of Defence said that Lieutenant General Vats was commissioned into 19 KUMAON Regiment of the Indian Army in December 1988 and served as the Commandant at the Defence Services Staff College in Wellington. He succeed Lieutenant General Gurbirpal Singh.

Indian Army's Golden Arrow Division Commemorates Diamond Jubilee of 1965 Victory at Asal Uttar

  • In Punjab, the Golden Arrow Division of Indian Army commemorated the Diamond Jubilee of India's victory over Pakistan during the India-Pakistan War of 1965 at Asal Uttar, in Tarn Taran. Tributes were paid to the gallant soldiers whose indomitable courage and supreme sacrifice during the Battle of Asal Uttar and Battle of Barki turned the tide of the 1965 War in favour of the Nation.
  • Asal Uttar is the historic battlefield, remembered as the 'Graveyard of Patton Tanks,' as Indian Army destroyed over 95 Patton tanks and others here during the 1965 war.

18 Hospitals Across State to Deliver Quality Cancer Treatment Through Mahacare

  • The Maharashtra govt in September 2025, approved a comprehensive policy to provide affordable and quality cancer treatment across state. Under the policy, the govt announced the formation of a dedicated foundation, 'Mahacare', to manage and coordinate cancer treatment at 18 hospitals, including those in Nagpur, Chandrapur, Amravati and Yavatmal.
  • The decision was taken at a high-level meeting chaired by chief minister Devendra Fadnavis. The Maharashtra Cancer Care, Research and Education Foundation (Mahacare Foundation) will act as the nodal agency for implementing the policy.
  • It will oversee 18 hospitals that will be integrated into a three-tier structure, categorised as L1, L2 and L3 centres. These facilities will provide a full spectrum of cancer services, including diagnosis, surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, physiotherapy, rehabilitation, palliative care, postgraduate and super-speciality education, research, drug support and public awareness programmes.

  • At the centre of the campaign is the Quokka, widely known as "the world's happiest animal." The Quokka integrated into the Swiggy customer experience as a mascot, appearing on order-tracking maps, banner ads and Instamart promotions. The campaign draws attention to the "Quokka Selfie," a social media trend that has become a popular highlight for visitors to Western Australia.
