India Backs UNGA Resolution on Palestine Two-State Solution

  • In a significant diplomatic development, India voted in favour of a United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) resolution endorsing the "New York Declaration" on the peaceful settlement of the Palestine issue through the two-state solution.
  • The resolution was passed in September 2025, with 142 countries supporting, 10 opposing, and 12 abstaining.

Centre for Development of Telematics Signs MoU With Punjab National Bank Reinforcing PNB's IT Infrastructure and Technical Transformation Journey

  • The Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT), a premier Government of India R&D institution under the Ministry of Communications, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Punjab National Bank (PNB), one of India's leading public sector banks, to strengthen PNB's IT infrastructure and fast-track its technology transformation journey.
  • Under the MoU, C-DOT offered specialised IT products and services, enabling faster deployment of advanced, indigenous solutions tailored to the needs of PNB.
  • Key developments included leveraging advanced telecom infrastructure for secure digital transactions, creating a robust cybersecurity framework for promoting financial inclusion with secure banking. C-DOT offered a comprehensive suite of solutions, which included Switching and Routing, Wireless technology, software applications including AI, cybersecurity solutions, quantum communication and other applications along with ongoing maintenance—ensuring secure, scalable, and regulatory-compliant IT capabilities aligned with PNB's strategic priorities.
  • The signing ceremony took place at C-DOT Headquarters, New Delhi, in the presence of officials from C-DOT and PNB.

  • Meenakshi Hooda defeated Nazym Kyzaibay in the 48 kg category today, and Jaismine Lamboria outclassed Paris Olympics silver medallist Julia Szeremeta of Poland in the 57kg final clash. 
  • With their victories, Jaismine and Minakshi joined an illustrious list of Indian world champions featuring six-time winner Mary Kom, two-time champion Nikhat Zareen, Sarita Devi, Jenny RL, Lekha KC, Nitu Ghanghas, Lovlina Borgohain and Saweety Boora.
  • In the championship held at Liverpool in England, India ended with four medals, the best-ever in an overseas edition.

  • India's Anandkumar Velkumar made history by winning country's first-ever senior medal at the Speed Skating World Championships, claiming bronze in the 500m+ D sprint.
  • The achievement came just weeks after he won another bronze in the 1000m sprint at the World Games in Chengdu, China, also a first for India.
  • Velkumar has been steadily rising on the international stage. He first gained attention in 2021 with a silver at the Junior World Championships.
  • With two historic bronzes in a month, his success marked a breakthrough for Indian speed skating and signals a bright future for the sport in the country.

Amit Shah Inaugurates India's Largest Sports Complex in Ahmedabad's Naranpura

  • In 2025, Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah inaugurated the Veer Savarkar Sports Complex, constructed at a cost of about Rs. 825 crore, at Naranpura, Ahmedabad.

  • In a historic first, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in September 2025 flagged off 'Samudra Pradakshina', the world's first all-women tri-service circumnavigation sailing expedition, from the Gateway of India in Mumbai.
  • The mission brings together women officers from the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force and represents a powerful symbol of nari shakti, joint military cooperation, and India's strides towards Aatmanirbhar Bharat.
  • The expedition, led by 10 women officers, will last nine months and aims to circumnavigate the globe aboard the IASV Triveni, a 50-foot indigenously-built Indian Army Sailing Vessel.
  • The sailing route will follow an easterly course, covering nearly 26,000 nautical miles.

Former Meghalaya CM D.D. Lapang Passes Away at 91

  • D.D. Lapang, the veteran leader and former Chief Minister of Meghalaya, passed away in Shillong at the age of 91.
  • Revered as one of the most enduring political figures in the state, Lapang's career spanned over three decades, during which he held the Chief Minister's post on four occasions and played a pivotal role in shaping Meghalaya's democratic and development landscape.
  • He started his career as a road labourer, later serving as a school sub-inspector. His deep roots among the common people and firsthand understanding of hardship shaped his approach to public service.
  • In 1972, Lapang entered politics by winning a seat in the first Meghalaya Legislative Assembly from Nongpoh as an independent candidate. This marked the beginning of a long and distinguished political journey.
  • Lapang served in various ministerial capacities before being sworn in as Chief Minister for the first time in 1992. Over the years, he held the top post in the state four times between 1992 and 2008, navigating Meghalaya's often fragmented, coalition-heavy political landscape with remarkable skill and consensus-building ability.
