Enrich Money Becomes India's First Stock Broker to Launch Rs. 10 SIP's on ONDC - Enabled ORCA App

  • Bengaluru, September 2025, Enrich Money, a SEBI-registered online trading and wealth-tech platform, became the first distributor in India to launch mutual fund SIPs starting at just Rs. 10 on its ORCA App. Powered by the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC), this pioneering initiative brings mutual fund investing within reach of millions, especially in Tier-2/Tier-3 cities and among first-time investors.
  • The ONDC Network aims to reshape mutual fund distribution by enabling seamless connectivity between Asset Management Companies (AMCs) and mutual fund distributors. ONDC Integration ensures seamless, secure, and cost-effective access to mutual funds across platforms, aligning with SEBI's standards for transparency, interoperability and investor convenience.

Harshavardhan Chitale Named Hero MotoCorp CEO from Jan 2026

  • Hero MotoCorp, India's top two-wheeler manufacturer, appointed Harshavardhan Chitale as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective from January 5, 2026. This key leadership move is expected to accelerate the company's journey into electric mobility, digital transformation, and premium product segments.
  • This announcement came after the resignation of Niranjan Gupta as CEO in April 2025. Since then, Vikram Kasbekar, also the company's Chief Technology Officer (CTO), has been serving as Acting CEO. Kasbekar will continue in his CTO role and assist with a smooth leadership transition until Chitale officially takes over.
  • Chitale is an IIT Delhi alumnus, honoured with the Director's Gold Medal, reflecting his academic excellence and leadership potential early on.

Tech Transfer MoU Inked for HAL to Build ISRO's SSLV Rocket

  • Indian government-run space entities (ISRO, NSIL, IN-SPACE) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) for the technology transfer of the ISRO-developed Small Satellite Launch Vehicle (SSLV) rocket.
  • The end goal of this agreement was that the Indian government's aerospace firm Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) would be completely building, marketing, and launching the SSLV rocket.
  • The SSLV is the Indian government's latest and smallest space faring rocket. ISRO says the SSLV can carry satellites weighing up to 500kg to orbits 500 km above the Earth's surface.
  • Eventually, the SSLV rocket is going to be HAL's property; they can launch it to ferry customers' satellites and demand a price for providing the launch services. Typically, all Indian space-faring rockets are developed by and belong to the Indian Space Research Organisation.
  • ISRO sources rocket components from Indian and foreign vendors, assembles the rocket, and launches it. Henceforth, HAL would carry out the same process for the SSLV.

CP Radhakrishnan Elected as India's 15th Vice President

  • In September 2025, CP Radhakrishnan, the former Tamil Nadu BJP president and Maharashtra Governor, was elected as the 15th Vice President of India, defeating opposition candidate B Sudershan Reddy, a senior advocate and former Supreme Court judge.
  • The election witnessed a high turnout of 98.3%, showcasing the unity and participation of parliamentarians.
  • Radhakrishnan secured 452 first preference votes, while Justice Reddy received 300 votes. Fifteen votes were declared invalid. Out of 781 eligible MPs, 767 cast their votes, marking an impressive 98.20% turnout. Thirteen MPs abstained, including members from the Biju Janata Dal, Bharat Rashtra Samithi, Shiromani Akali Dal, and one independent.

Multilateral Joint Military Exercise ZAPAD 2025

  • An Indian Armed Forces contingent is participating in the multilateral joint military exercise ZAPAD 2025 that is being held in Russia. The seven-day exercise aims to enhance military cooperation, improve interoperability, and provide a platform for participating armies to exchange tactics, techniques, and procedures in the domains of conventional warfare and counter-terrorism operations. 
  • The Indian Army contingent is being led by a battalion of the KUMAON Regiment, along with troops from other arms and services. The contingent comprises 57 Indian Army personnel, seven from the Indian Air Force, and one from the Indian Navy.
  • The exercise will focus on joint company level operations in open and plain terrain, wherein troops will undertake missions ranging from joint planning, tactical drills, and special arms skills.
  • More than 20 countries, including China, are taking part in this multinational exercise.
  • Cambodia, China, Cuba, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nicaragua, North Korea, Pakistan, Serbia, Thailand, the UAE, and Uzbekistan are observers. 
  • It is for the first time since Operation Sindoor, the Indian and Pakistani armies are participating in the same military drill. The exercise concludes on September 16.

Dr. Geetha Vani Rayasam Takes Over as NIScPR Director

  • Dr. Geetha Vani Rayasam has officially taken charge as the Director of CSIR–National Institute of Science Communication and Policy Research (NIScPR) in September 2025. In her inaugural address, she emphasized a future-ready vision for science communication, agile Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) policies, and global partnerships to strengthen India's role in the knowledge economy.
  • She highlighted that in the era of Artificial Intelligence, digital platforms, and rapid global shifts, India's STI ecosystem must adapt quickly. She called for flexible, responsive policies that evolve with the times and position NIScPR as a policy thought leader for both India and the Global South.

Senior Journalist Sankarshan Thakur Passes Away

  • Veteran journalist Sankarshan Thakur, editor of The Telegraph whose prowess with words added that extra edge to his analyses and ground reports, died at the age of 63. Thakur, who began his journalism career in 1984 with SUNDAY magazine, has worked in several places, including The Indian Express, Tehelka and The Telegraph in two stints.

World Suicide Prevention Day

  • Each year, on 10 September, World Suicide Prevention Day is observed since 2003 by the International Association for Suicide Prevention (IASP), with the World Health Organization (WHO) as co-sponsor. The day mobilises governments, organisations and the public around one message: Suicide is preventable.
  • The triennial theme for World Suicide Prevention Day (2024–2026) is "Changing the Narrative on Suicide". This theme calls on us all to challenge harmful myths, reduce stigma, and foster open, compassionate conversations around suicide.
