Flipkart's first grocery FC in the state will support rising consumer demand for online groceries by enhancing serviceability and offering delivery slots as per the consumer's choice across Agartala and nearby areas. Built on deep consumer insights, the facility will offer a curated selection of over 4,000 products across staples such as aata, rice, and pulses in addition to snacks, beverages, personal care, and household essentials. The assortment includes several locally popular brands to cater to the diverse preferences of consumers across Tripura.
India and Eurasian Economic Union Sign Terms of Reference to Launch FTA Negotiations
India and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), comprising Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic and Russia signed the Terms of Reference (ToR) to launch negotiations on a Free Trade Agreement (FTA).
The ToR was signed by Additional Secretary, Department of Commerce, Government of India, Ajay Bhadoo, and Deputy Director, Trade Policy Department, Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC), Mikhail Cherekaev.
The ToR provides the framework for negotiations and is expected to unlock untapped trade potential, increase investments and establish a stronger, durable India-EAEU economic partnership.
Russia Launches Animals into Space aboard Bion-M No. 2 Biosatellite
Russia launched the Bion-M No. 2 biosatellite using a Soyuz-2.1b rocket from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan. This mission carries 75 mice, more than 1,000 fruit flies, plant seeds, cell cultures, and microorganisms for a 30-day orbital experiment. The main focus is to examine how prolonged exposure to microgravity and cosmic radiation impacts living organisms, providing important information for future human spaceflight.
Himalayan Kingfisher Unveiled as Mascot for Khelo India Water Sports Festival 2025 in Srinagar
The mascot and logo for the first-ever Khelo India Water Sports Festival (KIWSF) were unveiled in Srinagar. The event is taking place at the iconic Dal Lake from August 21 to 23, making it the first water games event under the Khelo India umbrella.
This major sports initiative, held under the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports and organised in collaboration with the Jammu & Kashmir Sports Council and the Sports Authority of India (SAI), will boost both sports culture and eco-tourism in the Kashmir Valley.
The colourful Himalayan Kingfisher was revealed as the official mascot of KIWSF 2025.
The newly launched logo captures the essence of Kashmir's landscape and its connection to water.
This is Jammu & Kashmir's second Khelo India event in 2025, following the snow sports at Gulmarg earlier this year, positioning the region as a multi-season sports hub.

The 28th National Conference on e-Governance (NCeG) will be held on September 22 and 23, 2025, at Vishakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. The event is being jointly organised by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG), the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), and the Government of Andhra Pradesh. IIM Visakhapatnam will be the knowledge partner for the 28th National e-Governance Conference 2025.
The theme of the two-day conference, is 'Viksit Bharat: Civil Service and Digital Transformation' and will feature six plenary sessions and six breakout sessions, bringing together senior government officials, thought leaders, academia, industry experts, and awardees to deliberate on innovative practices and emerging trends in e-Governance across India.
The National Awards for e-Governance 2025 will be conferred on September 22, during the Conference by Jitendra Singh.
India Successfully Test-fires Intermediate Range Ballistic Missile 'Agni-5'
India successfully test fired the Intermediate Range Ballistic Missile 'Agni-5' from the Integrated Test Range at Chandipur in Odisha.
The launch validated all operational and technical parameters. It was carried out under the aegis of the Strategic Forces Command.
The Agni-5 has been developed indigenously by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). It is one of India's most advanced long-range missiles, capable of striking targets well beyond 5,000 kilometres.
It is designed with modern navigation, guidance, warhead, and engine technologies and is strengthens India's strategic deterrence capability.

The investigative reporter, filmmaker and news anchor, who is the 10th recipient of the accolade, works with TV3 and 3FM in Ghana. His stories have also appeared on several international broadcasters.
Asediba often focuses on human-interest stories aiming to expose injustice and amplify the voices of marginalised communities.
The award, now a decade old, was created to honour Dumor, a Ghanaian journalist and presenter for BBC World News, who died in 2014.
West Bengal Launches 'Shramshree' Scheme for Returning Migrant Workers
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee launched the Shramshree Scheme, a first-of-its-kind state welfare initiative aimed at supporting Bengali migrant workers returning home after facing alleged linguistic discrimination and harassment in other states. The scheme offers Rs. 5,000 monthly aid for up to one year or until the worker secures a new job within the state.
National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) unveiled new curriculum modules on Operation Sindoor, calling it a 'saga of courage' and a transformative moment in India's military and political response to terrorism. The modules are designed for Classes 3 to 12, narrating the events leading to and following the May 2025 precision strikes on terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK).
The operation was named 'Sindoor', symbolising solidarity with the widows of the victims. Sindoor, traditionally worn by married Hindu women, was chosen to represent empathy, unity, and a vow to uphold national dignity.
