Union Minister of Jal Shakti, C. R. Patil, inaugurated C-FLOOD, a Unified Inundation Forecasting System. Developed collaboratively by C-DAC, CWC, and NRSC, this web-based platform provides two-day advance flood forecasts at the village level, aimed at enhancing preparedness and mitigating flood risks in vulnerable regions. The project is part of the National Supercomputing Mission (NSM), showcasing India's synergy of science and technology in tackling climate challenges.

AU Small Finance Bank appointed two independent directors and a number of senior executives across verticals.
The two independent directors are Nandkumar Saravade - a former IPS officer and an expert in cyber security, fraud risk and regulatory technology- and Jagajit Mangal Prasad, having an experience of over three decades in human capital strategy.
Besides, the bank appointed Yogesh Jain as Chief Operating Officer, Vivek Tripathi as Chief Credit Officer and Dhavan Shah as Head (Commercial Banking).
Avinash Sharan was elevated to Head (Branch Banking) and Arvind Butola as National Business Head (Credit Cards & Unsecured Loans).
Sunil Jayawant Kadam Takes Charge as SEBI's New Executive Director
Sunil Jayawant Kadam took charge as an Executive Director of SEBI.
He will handle several departments, including Information Technology, Investor Assistance and Education and matters related to the National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM).
In his new role, Kadam will also oversee Economic and Policy Analysis, General Services, Board Cell, RTI & PQ Cell.
Kadam, who has been associated with SEBI since 1996, was serving as Chief General Manager before this elevation. He has handled several assignments, including roles in Corporation Finance, Market Regulation, Surveillance, and Investigations.
Taipei Fubon Commercial Bank Secures Approval to Open Branch in India
Taipei Fubon Commercial Bank, the banking arm of Fubon Financial Holding Co., received approval from Taiwan's Financial Supervisory Commission (FSC) to set up a branch in Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City), India's emerging financial and technology hub.
The bank dropped its earlier plan to open a branch in Mumbai, believing GIFT City offers a more strategic location to serve Taiwanese businesses and other enterprises operating in India.
GIFT City, located in Gujarat, offers single-window clearances and approvals and provides plug-and-play infrastructure for businesses.

Union Cabinet Clears New National Sports Policy to Boost India's Sporting Ecosystem
The Union Cabinet approved the National Sports Policy on July 1, 2025. The newly approved policy aims to integrate sports into daily life, fuel economic growth, and build a robust, athlete-centric ecosystem. Developed through extensive stakeholder consultation, the policy emphasises excellence, inclusivity, infrastructure accessibility, and community engagement across the country.
The new policy supersedes the existing National Sports Policy, 2001, and lays out a visionary and strategic roadmap to establish India as a global sporting powerhouse and a strong contender for excellence at international sporting events, including the 2036 Olympic Games.
The NSP 2025 is the outcome of extensive consultations involving Central Ministries, NITI Aayog, State Governments, National Sports Federations (NSFs), athletes, domain experts, and public stakeholders.
This policy is anchored on 5 pillars: Excellence on the Global Stage, Sports for Economic Development, Sports for Social Development, Sports as a People's Movement, Integration with Education (NEP 2020).

The 15th Hockey India Sub Junior Women National Championship 2025 began on July 3 at the Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Astroturf Hockey Stadium in Ranchi, Jharkhand. The tournament will run until July 14 and will follow the newly-introduced division-based format--first implemented earlier this year during the Senior Men and Women's National Championships.
This year's (2025) edition features 28 teams divided into three divisions--Division A, Division B, and Division C--introducing an added competitive edge with promotion and relegation at stake.

Sudhanshu Mittal was re-elected as President while Upkar Singh Virk was elected as the General Secretary, as the Kho Kho Federation of India (KKFI) officially announced its new Governing Body following the successful conduct of elections at the KKFI headquarters in the national capital.
The elections were overseen by Dr. Kamini Lau, District Judge (Retd.), who was the Returning Officer. Govind Sharma was elected as the Treasurer of the new regime.

The two-day conference aims to elevate the role of Urban Local Bodies in a rapidly urbanising India and reinforce their importance in constitutional democracy and nation building.

INS Udaygiri: Navy Inducts Indigenous Stealth Frigate in Record Time
Showcasing the country's growing military manufacturing capabilities and enhancing its naval power, INS Udaygiri, the second ship of Project 17A's stealth frigates, was delivered to the Indian Navy on July 1, 2025.
The project is a successor of the Shivalik class frigates of Project 17 (P-17), which are now in active service. Udaygiri is the second among the seven Project 17A (P-17A) frigates under construction at Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDSL) in Mumbai and Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers in Kolkata. These multi-mission frigates are capable of operating in a 'blue water' environment — referring to the open ocean — dealing with both conventional and non-conventional threats in the area of India's maritime interests.
Shekhar Dutt, a former Defence Secretary and former Deputy NSA, died at the age of 79. Dutt also served as the Governor of Chhattisgarh. He had served the Army in the 1971 war with Pakistan as an emergency commissioned officer. He was awarded the Sena Medal for Gallantry.
In the IAS, he served as Defence Secretary from July 2005 to July 2007. Upon superannuation, he was appointed Deputy National Security Adviser, and in 2010, he was appointed Governor.

ESIC Launches SPREE 2025 to Expand Social Security Coverage for Workers
The Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) launched SPREE 2025 (Scheme for Promotion of Registration of Employers and Employees). The initiative was approved during ESIC's 196th Corporation Meeting held in Shimla under the chairmanship of Union Labour and Employment Minister Mansukh Mandaviya.
SPREE 2025 is being implemented from July 1 to December 31, 2025, and offers a one-time opportunity for unregistered employers and workers—including contractual and temporary staff—to enrol under the Employees' State Insurance (ESI) scheme without facing penalties or retrospective inspections.

Department of School Education & Literacy Convenes National Conference on Curricular and Assessment Equivalence
The Department of School Education and Literacy (DoSE&L), Ministry of Education, Government of India, convened the National Conference on Curricular and Assessment Equivalence of Boards and Improving Learning Outcomes, at Sushma Swaraj Bhawan, New Delhi.
This high-level gathering brought together more than 250 senior officials from the Ministry of Education, State Education Departments, State Education Boards, SCERTs, and representatives from Autonomous Bodies including CBSE, KVS and NVS.
Sanjay Kumar, Secretary, DoSE&L, chaired the event and underscored the importance of creating mechanisms for ensuring consistency in assessments and academic outcomes across diverse education systems while preserving flexibility for local needs.
