SEBI Opens Settlement Window for Stock Brokers in Algo Trading Violation Cases

  • The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) announced a three-month settlement scheme for stock brokers facing regulatory proceedings for associating with unregulated algorithmic trading (algo) platforms. Open from June 16 to September 16, 2025, the scheme allows brokers to resolve ongoing cases and avoid further litigation. This move follows SEBI's findings that several brokers collaborated with third-party algo platforms offering assured returns, a practice violating market conduct norms.

Mumbai Ranks 6th Globally in Under-Construction Data Centre Capacity

  • Mumbai secured the 6th position globally among 97 cities in terms of under-construction data centre capacity, as per the latest 'Global Data Center Market Comparison 2025' report by Cushman & Wakefield. With 335 MW of capacity currently being built, the city leads the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region and is poised to boost its operational capacity by 62%. The surge is driven by rising demand from hyperscalers, the rapid expansion of cloud computing and AI-based workloads, and the city's robust digital and power infrastructure.

Maharashtra Introduces Geo-Tagged Unique ID for All Infra Projects

  • The Government of Maharashtra mandated the assignment of a geo-tagged 13-digit alphanumeric unique ID to all infrastructure development projects in the state. This ID will serve as the primary reference once administrative approval is granted. The initiative aims to bring digital uniformity, prevent duplication, and enable real-time tracking of infrastructure projects across departments through the Infra ID portal, with a target to register all projects sanctioned in the last five years by March 2026.

  • Sana became Pakistan's captain at 23 and led them for seven years, including winning two Asian Games gold medals in 2010 and 2014. Having enjoyed a 15-year international career, she retired as her country's leading wicket-taker in ODI cricket and second-highest in T20I cricket. Having started out as a pace bowler, a stress fracture forced her to switch to off-spin, and in October 2018 she became the first Pakistani woman to reach the summit of the ICC rankings when she went top of the ODI bowling table.

Coal India inks MoU with Kolkata Port for dynamic lighting of Howrah Bridge

  • Coal India Ltd signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port, Kolkata (SMPK), to support the dynamic illumination of the iconic Howrah Bridge, also known as Rabindra Setu.
  • According to the agreement, the lighting design will include volumetric and skeleton lighting techniques, paired with synchronised music shows. This immersive audio-visual experience will highlight the bridge's unique architectural elements, while also celebrating the cultural heritage of Kolkata.
  • The MoU was signed at Coal Bhawan, Coal India's headquarters, in the presence of Chairman P. M. Prasad, SMPK Chairman Rathendra Raman, Deputy Chairman Samrat Rahi, and other senior officials.

BEML Signs Licensing Agreements with DRDO to Manufacture Advanced Combat Support Vehicles for Army

  • BEML Limited entered into three licensing agreements with the Vehicles Research and Development Establishment (VRDE), a premier DRDO laboratory, for the Transfer of Technology to manufacture critical mobility and support systems for the Indian Army's Armoured Corps.
  • Under these agreements, Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML) will indigenously develop and produce the Unit Maintenance Vehicle (UMV) and Unit Repair Vehicle (URV) for MBT Arjun, and the Full Trailer for 70T Tank Transporter equipped with an Advanced Hydraulic Suspension System.

Key NSG Counter-Terror Event Held, Focus on Unified Response

  • In the wake of the terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam and India's response in the form of Operation Sindoor, the 23rd edition of the National Security Guard's (NSG) Counter-Terror International Seminar was held in New Delhi. In a First, Centre Caps MGNREGS Spend at 60% for First Six Months of FY 2025-26

  • For the first time, the government capped spending under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) at 60 per cent of its annual allocation for the first half of the financial year 2025–26. Until now, the rural jobs guarantee scheme has operated as a demand-driven programme with no such spending limit.
  • The Ministry of Finance informed the Ministry of Rural Development that it will now be brought under the Monthly/Quarterly Expenditure Plan (MEP/QEP), a spending control mechanism from which it had been exempt so far.
