Star Indian javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra finally breached the 90m mark at the Doha leg of the prestigious Diamond League Meeting as he became the third Asian and 25th overall to achieve the feat.
The double Olympic medallist sent his spear 90.23m in his third attempt to join a list of javelin throwers, led by his current coach Jan Zelezny of Czechia, who had recorded 90m-plus efforts.
Olympic champion Arshad Nadeem (92.97m) of Pakistan and Chao-Tsun Cheng (91.36m) of Chinese Taipei are the two other Asians to have breached the coveted mark.
Junior Women's Hockey Team to Compete in Four-Nation Tournament in Argentina
The Indian junior women's hockey team is all set to embark on an exciting tour of Argentina for a friendly Four Nations Tournament, scheduled from May 25 to June 2, 2025.
The team will play six friendly matches against Argentina, Uruguay, and Chile.
The tournament will begin on May 25, with India playing back-to-back matches against Chile and Uruguay on May 25 and 26, respectively. After a rest day, they will face hosts Argentina on May 28.
The team will then follow the same sequence in the return leg, taking on Chile on May 30, Uruguay on June 1, and Argentina on June 2.
This tour is a crucial part of the team's preparations for the FIH Hockey Junior Women's World Cup, scheduled to take place in Santiago, Chile, in December 2025.

The World Table Tennis Championships 2025 matches will be played at the Lusail Sports Arena. The Indian table tennis squad for the World Championships includes Sreeja Akula, Sathiyan Gnanasekaran, Sutirtha and Ayhika Mukherjee, amongst others.

The first International Museum Day was organised in 1977 by the International Council of Museums (ICOM). This initiative was born from a resolution aimed at creating an annual event to unite the creative efforts of museums worldwide and raise global awareness about their activities. Since its inception, museums across the globe have been invited to participate in this celebration each year. In 1992, ICOM began the tradition of adopting an annual theme, and in 1997, an international poster was introduced, embraced by 28 countries.

World AIDS Vaccine Day
World AIDS Vaccine Day, also called HIV Vaccine Awareness Day, is observed worldwide on May 18 every year. The purpose of the day is to recognise the economic, social, and cultural impacts of the HIV/AIDS epidemic as well as the urgent and ongoing need for a vaccine to prevent HIV infection and AIDS.
The day began on May 18, 1997, when U.S. President Bill Clinton gave a crucial speech at Morgan State University. Bill Clinton highlighted the urgent need for a preventive HIV vaccine in this speech, saying, "Only a truly effective, preventive HIV vaccine can limit and eventually eliminate the threat of AIDS."
The first World AIDS Vaccine Day was celebrated on May 18, 1998, to mark the anniversary of Clinton's speech and to draw attention to the continued efforts and necessity for an HIV vaccine.
IIT-Madras Launches Certification Programme in Applied AI and Machine Learning
IIT Madras, in collaboration with the ed-tech platform Emeritus and IBM, introduced the Advanced Certification Programme in Applied Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, designed to bridge the growing skill gap between AI innovation and industry-ready talent.
The initiative comes under the purview of IITM Pravartak, the technology innovation hub of the institute, which is supported by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India.
Supreme Court Directs Urgent Establishment of Exclusive POCSO Courts across India
In a significant move aimed at ensuring swift justice for child sexual abuse victims, the Supreme Court of India directed the Central Government to urgently establish exclusive courts for cases under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Highlighting the alarming rise in child rape incidents and the lack of sufficient judicial infrastructure, the apex court emphasized that the delay in trials violates the intent of the POCSO Act and hampers access to justice for vulnerable victims.
