The cement industry is one of the top hard-to-abate sectors contributing significantly to COâ‚‚ emissions.
CCU technology enables capturing COâ‚‚ from industrial processes and transforming it into value-added products.

Wipro announces Digital Transformation Partnership with Hachette UK
Wipro announced a digital transformation partnership with Hachette UK, one of the largest publishing groups in the United Kingdom.
As part of the project, Wipro will upgrade Hachette UK's IT systems by implementing SAP S/4HANA, using RISE with SAP. The goal is to improve efficiency, speed up finance operations, and make it easier for Hachette to respond to changing market conditions.
Wipro will lead the transformation by creating a full roadmap to modernise HUK's systems across finance, procurement, and sales — all while keeping disruption to a minimum. The program aims to improve flexibility, data-based decisions, and overall business performance.
PNB to Sell Entire Stake in ISARC for Rs. 34 crore
To streamline its investment portfolio, Punjab National Bank (PNB) signed an agreement to offload its entire stake in India SME Asset Reconstruction Company Ltd (ISARC) for Rs. 34.04 crore.
The deal involves the sale of 2.09 crore shares at Rs. 16.29 each, with the transaction expected to wrap up by the end of the first quarter of the 2025–26 financial year. The move aligns with PNB's wider strategy to primarily focus on its core banking operations while exiting non-core investments.
India among Top Six Nations in Global 6G Patent Filings
India is among the top six countries worldwide in terms of 6G patent filings, said Union Minister of State for Telecom Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani at the BHARAT 6G 2025 conference.
Pemmasani noted that India's advancements in 6G are pivotal to its aspirations of becoming a global technology leader.

Former Sri Lanka player Dassanayake Earns Second Stint as USA Coach
Former Sri Lanka and Canada international Pubudu Dassanayake was appointed as the new head coach of USA's men's team.
Dassanayake replaced Stuart Law in the top job, after the former Australia batter left the position towards the end of last year (2024) after leading the side in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup they co-hosted with the West Indies.
It is the second time Dassanayake has held the role as head coach with the USA, having previously enjoyed a three-year stint in charge from 2016-2019.

'Inclusive India Summit'
The Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD), Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, organised the 'Inclusive India Summit' on the occasion of Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD) on May 15, 2025. GAAD is dedicated to raising awareness around digital access and inclusion for persons with disabilities across the globe. This day is observed annually on the third Thursday of May.
This summit was held in a hybrid mode, both physical and virtual at the India International Centre, New Delhi. It was conducted in partnership with SBI Foundation and the National Association for the Blind (NAB), New Delhi, besides collaboration with the Association of People with Disability (APD) and Mission Accessibility (Dhananjay Sanjogta Foundation).
The objective of the summit was to promote inclusive development and digital accessibility in the country, while strengthening collaboration between the government, industry, academia, civil society, and the Divyang community to ensure equal opportunities and accessible environments for persons with disabilities.
India Successfully Tests Home-grown 'Bhargavastra' Counter-Swarm Drone System
India successfully tested the new low-cost counter swarm drone system, 'Bhargavastra' developed by Solar Defence and Aerospace Limited (SDAL). The counter-drone system was successfully tested at the Seaward Firing Range in Gopalpur, Odisha.
Bhargavastra operates in hard kill mode and can detect and eliminate small and incoming drones at distances of up to 2.5 km.

JNU Suspends MoU with Turkish University Citing National Security Concerns
Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) suspended its academic cooperation with Inonu University in Malatya, Turkey over national security concerns. The action followed a re-examination of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two institutions. The step was taken after reports emerged linking Turkey to the India-Pakistan conflict, with defence sources stating that drones and security personnel were sent to Pakistan by Turkey.
The Memorandum of Understanding, signed on February 3, 2025, was set to remain in effect for three years.
Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT Roorkee) launched a Strategic Product Management (SPM) programme to empower aspiring professionals and freshers to become future-ready product leaders. The five-month program aims to empower learners with end-to-end product thinking, from ideation to go-to-market execution, through live online classes and a three-day campus immersion at IIT Roorkee.

President Questions if Supreme Court Can Impose Deadlines on President, Governor for Bill Assent
In a rare move, the President of India Droupadi Murmu under Article 143 (1) of the Constitution of India sent a reference to the Supreme Court following its ruling that set timelines for Governors and the President to grant assent to bills passed by legislatures.
Article 143(1) of the Constitution allows the President to seek the Supreme Court's opinion in matters of legal and public importance. The top court will now have to set up a Constitution Bench for answering the reference.
In particular, President Murmu has questioned Supreme Court's direction that there would be a deemed consent in case of failure to abide by the timeline set by it for grant assent to the bills.
