The World Health Summit (WHS) Regional Meeting, which took place from April 25–27, 2025, in New Delhi, provided a vital platform for shaping the global health agenda, with a special focus on the integration and scaling up of traditional medicine systems. Among the key highlights of the summit was a session titled "Restoring Balance: Scaling up Access to Traditional Medicine for Health and Well-being", which serve as a major milestone for the global traditional medicine sector.
Organised under the overarching theme 'Scaling Access to Ensure Health Equity,' the WHS Regional Meeting brought together ministers, leading scientists, CEOs, UN officials, and civil society stakeholders and explored innovative, inclusive, and sustainable pathways to achieving health for all.
Stacie Sire Appointed as Vice President and Managing Director of Boeing (BIETC)
Global aerospace and defense major Boeing appointed Stacie Sire as the new Vice President and Managing Director (VP & MD) of the Boeing India Engineering & Technology Center (BIETC). In addition, she will also serve as the Chief Engineer for Boeing India. Sire, a Boeing veteran with 28 years of experience, took over from Ahmed Elsherbini, who led the position from April 2021 to January 2025. With extensive experience across aircraft programs such as the 787, 767, and 777, Sire brings a strong leadership and engineering background to her new role, which is critical for Boeing's long-term strategy and growth in India.
Rohit Sharma Becomes Second Indian to Reach 12,000 Runs in T20s
Rohit Sharma, the opening batsman for Mumbai Indians (MI), became the second Indian cricketer after Virat Kohli to score 12,000 runs in T20 cricket. This milestone was reached during the IPL 2025 match between Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). Rohit's achievement places him among the elite group of cricketers who have scored over 12,000 runs in the shortest format of the game, making him the eighth batter overall to do so.
J. P. Nadda Launches National Zero Measles-Rubella Elimination Campaign
Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Jagat Prakash Nadda virtually launched the National Zero Measles-Rubella Elimination campaign 2025-26 on the first day of the World Immunization Week (24-30 April), marking a significant step towards India's goal of eliminating Measles and Rubella by 2026.
Former ISRO Chairman and visionary scientist K. Kasturirangan passed away at the age of 84, in Bengaluru. He was one of the most respected figures in India's scientific and educational landscape.
K. Kasturirangan served as the fifth Chairman of ISRO from 1994 to 2003, concurrently holding the position of Secretary, Department of Space, for over nine years. His association with ISRO spanned four decades, during which he was at the helm of several landmark missions and pivotal institutional developments.
For his immense contributions, Kasturirangan was awarded all three of India's top civilian honours: Padma Shri, Padma Bhushan and Padma Vibhushan.

World Intellectual Property Day was established by the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) in 2000. The date of April 26 was chosen because it's the day the WIPO Convention came into force in 1970.

Kumar Mangalam Birla Receives Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar Award 2024
Kumar Mangalam Birla, the Chairman of the Aditya Birla Group, was conferred with the prestigious Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar Award in a grand ceremony held at the Deenanath Mangeshkar Auditorium in Vile Parle East, Mumbai. The award was presented by RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat.

FTII Declared 'Institution Deemed to be University
The Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune, was officially notified as an 'Institution Deemed to be University' by the Union Ministry of Education. The move marks a milestone in the institute's journey and opens new doors for academic autonomy, curriculum flexibility, and research innovation in cinema and television studies.
FTII was established in 1960 by the Government of India and was originally known as the Film Institute of India.
The Film Institute of India was renamed the Film and Television Institute of India in 1971.
