Pete Hoekstra Confirmed as US Ambassador to Canada
The US Senate confirmed the appointment of Pete Hoekstra to be the US ambassador to Canada, as ties between the two traditional allies reached their lowest point in years.
Hoekstra, a Republican, is a former ambassador to the Netherlands and represented Michigan in the House from 1993 to 2010.
The Senate voted 60-37 to confirm Hoekstra's appointment, with several Democrats voting alongside Republicans to confirm President Donald Trump's nominee.
He succeeded David L. Cohen as the US ambassador to Canada.
De-extinction of the Dire Wolf by Colossal Biosciences
A United States-based bioscience company claimed that it revived an extinct species of animal, the dire wolf.
Colossal scientists created three dire wolf pups by using ancient DNA, cloning and gene-editing technology to alter the genes of a gray wolf, the prehistoric dire wolf's closest living relative. The result is essentially a hybrid species similar in appearance to its extinct forerunner.
Infosys Expands Partnership with AIB to Drive Digital Transformation
Indian IT major Infosys announced the expansion of its partnership with AIB, a financial services group in Ireland and the United Kingdom, to deliver application development, testing, and support services.
Infosys will assist AIB in improving its software systems and managing application development and maintenance.

Japan Builds World's First 3D-Printed Train Station in Record Time
West Japan Railway Company (JR West) constructed the world's first 3D-printed train station, assembling it in under six hours in Arida City, Wakayama Prefecture. Named Hatsushima Station, the new structure replaces an aging wooden facility dating back to 1948 and demonstrates the potential of 3D printing to revolutionize public infrastructure. Built using prefabricated components produced by Serendix, a Japanese construction technology firm, this project not only cut construction time from months to hours but also promises cost-effectiveness, labour reduction, and minimal service disruption.
