The three-day event, which ran from April 7 to 9, established itself as the region's leading energy summit, bringing together more than 150 energy leaders and experts exploring innovations and global market dynamics.

Juspay Becomes India's First Unicorn of 2025: $1 Billion Valuation Achieved

  • Bengaluru-based payments infrastructure firm Juspay became India's first unicorn of 2025 after securing $60 million in a Series D funding round. Neelam Dhungana Appointed Acting Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank

  • Neelam Dhungana Timsina, the Senior Deputy Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB), was appointed as the Acting Governor following the completion of the five-year term of the previous Governor, Maha Prasad Adhikari. The Ministry of Finance, led by Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel, assigned Dr. Dhungana to take on this role. India, UK Hold 13th Economic and Financial Dialogue in London

  • The 13th Ministerial meeting of the India-UK Economic and Financial Dialogue was held at London. The Indian delegation, led by Nirmala Sitharaman, Union Minister for Finance and Corporate Affairs, held high-level discussions with the UK delegation led by the Chancellor of the Exchequer, the Rt. Hon. Rachel Reeves.
  • The Indian delegation comprised of the Finance Secretary, Chairman IFSCA, Whole Time Member from SEBI and other senior officers from Ministry of Finance and Indian High Commission in London. Governor RBI also attended the meeting in virtual mode. The UK delegation included the Governor of Bank of England, FCA CEO, Economic Secretary of Treasury, and senior officials from HM's Treasury.
  • Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to continue collaboration in financial services sector, FinTech and Digital economy and between the respective regulatory bodies; collaboration at bilateral and multilateral fora to address mutual and global economic issues including mobilising affordable finance and investment for low carbon economic growth, taxation matters and illicit financial flows.

Maharashtra Government Renames Khultabad as Ratnapur

  • In a move aimed at reviving pre-Mughal heritage and identity, the Maharashtra government announced the renaming of the historic town Khultabad to its original name, Ratnapur. This decision was declared by the State's Social Justice Minister Sanjay Shirsat, reflecting the ongoing initiative by the BJP-Shiv Sena alliance to restore the original cultural and historical names of places altered during the Mughal period. Khultabad, located in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar district, is not only known for its scenic and spiritual significance but also for housing the tomb of Mughal emperor Aurangzeb.

Former India Basketball Captain Hari Dutt Kapri Dies

  • Ace basketball player and former captain of the Indian team Hari Dutt Kapri passed away at the age of 83.
  • It was under his stewardship that the Indian basketball team rose from the 7th to the 4th position in Asia in the year 1969.
  • The Indian basketball team recorded a series of consecutive victories under his captaincy from 1965 to 1978.
  • He was conferred with the Arjuna award in 1969. He was also honoured with a lifetime achievement award by the Uttarakhand government.

World Parkinson's Day

  • Every year, World Parkinson's Day is observed on April 11.
  • In 1817, Dr. James Parkinson was the first person to discover the first case of Parkinson's Disease. In 1997, European Association for Parkinson's Disease announced that April 11 will be observed as World Parkinson's Day every year. The World Health Organisation also co-sponsored the event.

National Safe Motherhood Day

  • Every year on April 11 India celebrates National Safe Motherhood Day. National Safe Motherhood Day was established in 2003 by the White Ribbon Alliance India (WRAI). The date marks the birth anniversary of Kasturba Gandhi, wife of Mahatma Gandhi, who dedicated her life to the welfare of women and children.
  • The theme for National Safe Motherhood Day 2025 is 'Healthy Beginnings, Hopeful Futures.'

The 4th Joint Working Group Meeting on Tourism Cooperation between India and Japan

  • The 4th Joint Working Group (JWG) Meeting on Tourism Cooperation between India and Japan was in New Delhi. The meeting was co-chaired by Ms. Mugdha Sinha, Director General, Ministry of Tourism, Government of India and Mr. Haraikawa Naoya, Commissioner, Japan Tourism Agency (JTA). Officials and private stakeholders from both countries took part, including representatives from airlines, tourismand travel associations and Government institutions. Key organizations included Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO), Japan Association of Travel Agents (JATA), JTTRI, Japan Airlines and ANA from the Japanese side. The Indian delegation comprised of Ministry of External Affairs, Civil Aviation, Education, NCHMCT, ICCR and private stakeholders like Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO), Outbound Tour Operators Association of India (OTOAI), Association of Buddhist Tour Operators (ABTO). The meeting focused on finding new ways to work together and enhance tourism ties between the two nations. Minister of Tourism, Gajendra Singh Sekhawat, hosted a welcome dinner for the Japanese delegation.
