RBI Imposes Penalty on Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation
The RBI imposed a penalty of Rs. 66.6 lakh on The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited for non-compliance with certain directions including those related to 'Know Your Customer' and 'Interest Rates on Deposits'. A penalty of Rs. 33.1 lakh was also imposed on IIFL Samasta Finance Limited for non-compliance with certain provisions of the 'Non-Banking Financial Company - Systemically Important Non-Deposit taking Company and Deposit taking Company (Reserve Bank) Directions, 2016' and Know Your Customer (KYC) Directions.

Microsoft has announced that its video conferencing platform, Skype, will no longer be available after May 2025. The company stated that it is "retiring" Skype and will enable users to transition seamlessly to the free version of Microsoft Teams. Additionally, users who prefer not to migrate to Teams will have the option to export their Skype data.

Krishna Jayasankar currently studying in Texas, United States, sent happy tidings from the Mountain West Indoor Track and Field Championship held in Albuquerque, as she became the new record-holder in indoor shot put among the Indian women.
Krishna tossed the iron sphere to a new distance of 16.03 metres that bettered the previous Indian indoor best of 15.54 m by Maharashtra's Poornarao Rane, another US residing student athlete.
Vidarbha Wins Third Ranji Trophy Crown
A magnificent run in domestic cricket this season culminated in a third Ranji Trophy title for Vidarbha, who emerged champions on the basis of their first-innings lead in the summit clash.
The fate of the contest was all but sealed on the third evening when Vidarbha edged ahead with a slender lead of 37 runs in the first innings, having dismissed a doughty Kerala for 342 after putting on 379 runs batting first.
It is for the third time that Vidarbha won the Ranji Trophy title, having done so earlier with their two consecutive wins in the 2017-18 and 2018-19 seasons.

Yuva All Stars Championship 2025, a first of its kind tournament in the kabaddi ecosystem, will begin on March 6 at Vandna Kataria Indoor Stadium in Haridwar.

Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal received Princess Astrid of Belgium upon her arrival to India.
The sister of Belgium's King Philippe, Princess Astrid, is on a visit to India from March 2 to 8, meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and EAM Jaishankar and visiting various states, including Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Delhi, according to a statement from the External Affairs Ministry (MEA).
She is travelling with a delegation of 335 members and 180 companies. Belgium's Foreign Minister, Maxime Prevot, is part of the economic mission with the Princess.
Amit Shah Inaugurates Workshop on Sustainability and Circularity in Dairy Sector
Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah inaugurated the 'Workshop on Sustainability and Circularity in Dairy Sector' at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. The Workshop focused on policies and initiatives of Ministry of Cooperation and the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying aimed at promoting sustainable dairy farming while ensuring economic growth with environmental responsibility.
The workshop witnessed signing of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) for the establishment of biogas plants across multiple states, release of comprehensive guidelines aimed at promoting environmentally responsible practices in dairy farming and new financing initiatives under NDDB's and NABARD's Large Scale Biogas/CBG projects and the Sustain Plus Project.
The workshop is being organised by the Department of Animal Husbandry & Dairying (DAHD), Government of India in coordination with National Dairy Development Board (NDDB).

Renowned artist Himmat Shah died at the age of 92.
Shah studied under artist-educator Jagubhai Shah at Gharshala in Gujarat. He went on to study at MS University, Baroda, but he didn't complete his diploma on account of the requirements of a Central ministry scholarship. He also received a French government scholarship in 1967 on the recommendation of poet-diplomat Octavio Paz.

Prof. Manoj Kumar Tiwari is an academician and researcher with over three decades of experience spanning industry, research, teaching, and consulting, both in India and internationally. Prior to assuming the role of Director at IIM Mumbai, he had an extensive tenure at IIT Kharagpur, where he served in various academic and administrative capacities, contributing to its growth and reputation.
HP Govt. to Provide Free Competitive Exams Coaching to Students
Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu launched the 'Mere Shahar Ke 100 Ratna' programme, an initiative aimed at providing free coaching for various competitive examinations to 6,800 students across Himachal Pradesh.
Under this programme, CRACK Academy will offer free coaching to 100 meritorious students from each Assembly constituency, with an estimated investment of Rs 34 crore. To ensure a fair selection process, tests will be conducted in schools and colleges of each constituency, where students from Class VI and above can participate.
The top 100 students from each constituency will receive free coaching, while the next 200 students will be given a 75 per cent concession and the following 500 students will receive a 50 per cent concession.
