Sheikh Hasina Shakes up Bangladesh Foreign Ministry
The Government of Bangladesh under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina announced Cabinet posts for Ministers.
The biggest names to have made it to the list are Asaduzzaman Khan, and Obaidul Quader, two heavyweights who retained their respective Ministries – home and road transport.
A major upward shift came for the former Minister of Information Hasan Mahmud, who received the charge of the Foreign Ministry.
Sundram Fasteners Signs Deal with Tamil Nadu for Rs. 1,411 crore Investment
Sundram Fasteners, one of the largest suppliers to original equipment manufacturers and automakers globally, entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Tamil Nadu for a proposed investment of Rs. 1,411 crore.
The investment will be made in Sundram Fasteners factories across Tamil Nadu situated at Padi; Mahindra World City, SEZ; Velappanchavadi; Gummidipoondi; Hosur; Aviyur, Madurai and Mittamandagapattu, Villupuram. Among the aforementioned, the investments made in Mahindra World City, SEZ fall under both the Industrial Policy and the EV Policy.

Rhythm Sangwan Clinches 16th Olympic Quota for 2024 Paris Games
In a remarkable feat at the Asian Shooting Championships 2024 in Jakarta, Indonesia, Rhythm Sangwan secured a bronze medal in the women's 25m pistol event, obtaining a Paris 2024 Olympic quota for India. This accomplishment marked India's 16th shooting quota for the upcoming Olympics, surpassing the previous record tally of 15 set for the Tokyo 2020 Games.
India and the U.K. signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for bilateral international cadet exchange programme and also a Letter of Arrangement (LoA) on defence collaboration in Research and Development. These were signed after the bilateral talks between Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and his British counterpart Grant Shapps in London.
This is the first visit by an Indian Defence Minister to U.K. after over two decades, the last visit was by George Fernandes in 2002. Multiple attempts in the last few years for Singh's official visit to the U.K. did not materialise due to scheduling and other issues.

Rear Admiral Upal Kundu assumed charge as Chief of Staff, Southern Naval Command (SNC).
An alumnus of the Indian Naval Academy, he was commissioned into the Indian Navy in 1991. He is an anti-submarine warfare (ASW) specialist and commanded guided missile frigate INS Trikand, missile corvette INS Kuthar, erstwhile INS Akshay, and ashore units — INS Tanaji and INS Kadamba.
Schools in Uttarakhand to Have 'Bag-Free' Day every Month
The government of Uttarakhand took the decision to introduce 10 'bag-free' days per academic session in all the schools of the state in an initiative meant to reduce the load of books on children. The initiative is introduced in line with the new National Education Policy, 2020.
As per the information, one bag-free day will be seen by all upper primary and secondary schools on the last Saturday of each month from class 6 to class 12 each academic year.
This scheme is already working in primary schools in the state. The school observes such days as 'Pratibha Diwas' when students are allowed to take part in activities of their choice.
UGC Chairman Launches IGNOU's Four-year UG Programmes
The University Grants Commission (UGC) Chairman Mamidala Jagadesh Kumar launched the four-year undergraduate programme (FYUP) of the Indira Gandhi National University (IGNOU).
The FYUP, considered a crucial reform in Indian higher education, seeks to provide students with diverse opportunities for enrolment.
Whether pursuing these courses as part of a regular program or opting for a simultaneous UG degree in a different discipline, IGNOU's FYUP offers a myriad of possibilities for students.
The Goa government launched a model for "regenerative tourism," to become the first state in the country to do so. The approach aims to redefine tourism by promoting environmental restoration, cultural preservation, and community empowerment.
The launch of the model follows the G20 Tourism Ministers working group meet in June 2023, that came up with the Goa road map for tourism as a method for achieving the sustainable development goals.
With the launch of the 'Ekadasha Teertha', Goa gave Indian tourism a fresh look with an emphasis on spirituality, indigeneity, cultural and civilizational nationalism, and conscious tourism.
