Global Remote Work Index, India among World's Worst Countries
India was ranked 64th out of 108 countries for remote work, marking a significant drop of 15 places compared to the previous year, according to a report released in October 2023. This decline can be attributed primarily to India's subpar digital and physical infrastructure and social safety.
The Global Remote Work Index (GRWI), published by cybersecurity firm NordLayer, assessed countries based on four key criteria: cyber safety, economic safety, digital and physical infrastructure, and social safety.
The top 10 countries which scored the highest on the Global Remote Work Index (GRWI) were Denmark, Netherlands, Germany, Spain, Sweden, Portugal, Estonia, Lithuania, Ireland, and Slovakia.
COP28 President Seeks Plans to Cut 22 Gigatons of Greenhouse Emissions in 7 Years
Sultan Al-Jaber, the 2023 UN Climate Change Conference (COP 28) President, asked 198 member countries for plans to cut 22 gigatons of greenhouse gas emissions in the next seven years to keep global warming of 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels.
Al-Jaber asked the parties to join the COP28 pledge for tripling global renewable capacity (reaching 11 TW by 2030) and doubling the annual average global rate of energy efficiency improvements between now and 2030 (reaching 4%). He urged them to come to COP28 from November 30 to December 12 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) with tangible commitments to realise this goal.

NCLT Approves Himadri, Dalmia Group's Joint Resolution Plan of Birla Tyres
Birla Tyres announced that the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) approved the resolution plan for the company. Shortly after Birla Tyres filing, Himadri Speciality Chemical Ltd also received verbal approval of a joint resolution plan from the tribunal.
Birla Tyres was demerged in 2018 from Kesoram Industries. In May 2022, the company began insolvency proceedings with the Kolkata bench of the NCLT after a case was filed by chemicals firm SRF Ltd, an operational creditor of the B K Birla group firm.
The Dalmia Group had submitted a debt resolution plan of Rs. 1,100 crore and offered to repay Rs. 300 crore of the outstanding loans of the two-wheeler tyre manufacturer.

Indian Air Force Successfully Tests BrahMos Supersonic Cruise Missile

After a month, on November 28, 1959, Chinese troops handed over the dead bodies of the martyred policemen and, since that day, October 21 has been observed as Police Commemoration Day in honour of the martyrs every year.
Ministry of Education Reconstitutes JAB for Better Conduct of JEE-Main, Advanced
The Ministry of Education reconstituted the board structure and administrative framework of the JEE Apex Board (JAB) for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) for admission to undergraduate engineering programmes in IITs, NITs and other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs) etc.
As per the notification, the National Testing Agency (NTA) will manage all information technology-related (software) support and back-end activities for pre and post-examination work, including online submission of application forms. "NTA may seek support from NIC/C-DAC as and when required.

IIT-Delhi, THDC India Limited Collaborate for Transformative Research and Development Initiatives
The Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi (IIT-D) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the THDC India Limited (THDCIL), a Central Public Sector Enterprise focused on advancing research and development activities in Science, Engineering, and Technology.
The agreement is set to span five years. Due to this partnership, THDCIL will partner with IIT Delhi to conduct research studies, pilot projects, and consulting engagements led by faculty members.
