  • IndusInd Bank announced the launch of a 'virtual commercial card', a credit card that will redefine cross-border transactions for corporates and travel agents.
  • In partnership with Visa, the global leader in digital payments and Juspay, a payments operating system, the virtual card has additional layers of security that give users complete control over their international expenses, thus making it safe and hassle-free.

India Becomes 13th Country in World that Can Issue OIML Certificates

  • India became the 13th internationally accepted authority for issuing International Organisation of Legal Metrology (OIML) certificates.
  • Domestic manufacturers of weighing and measuring equipment, like BP meters, oximeters and cloth scales, can now get the instruments tested in India itself before selling them in the international market.
  • An OIML Pattern Approval certificate is mandatory to sell a weight or measure in the international market, which the Department of Consumer Affairs can now issue. Domestic manufacturers can now export their weighing and measuring instruments worldwide without incurring additional testing fees, resulting in significant cost savings.
  • Twelve other countries, including Australia, Switzerland, China, the Czech Republic, Germany, Denmark, France and the United Kingdom, are authorised to issue these certificates.

Uttarakhand's Global Investor Summit Curtain Raiser Held in New Delhi

  • A Global Investor Summit 2023 is to be organised in Uttarakhand on December 8-9 on the tagline of 'Peace to Prosperity'. On the occasion of the curtain raiser of the summit in New Delhi, ITC proposed an investment of Rs. 5,000 crore to the Uttarakhand government. An MoU for investment of Rs. 1,000 crore was signed with Mahindra Holidays and Resort India Limited and Rs. 1,600 crore was signed with e-Kuber.

World Patient Safety Day

  • World Patient Safety Day is observed every year on September 17 to create awareness about different safety measures that should be taken to ensure patient safety.   • World Patient Safety Day was established in May 2019 when the 72nd World Health Assembly.

Telangana CM KCR Inaugurates PRLIS with 2.4 TMC Capacity

  • Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR) inaugurated the Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme (PRLIS).
  • The PRLIS scheme has increased Telangana's water storage capacity in the Krishna basin from 8 TMC to 75.94 TMC. The PRLIS, with its 67.97 TMC capacity, alongside 146 TMC from the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme is expected to take care of the various water-related requirements of the state.

  • SID is the digital public infrastructure (DPI) for skilling, education, employment and entrepreneurship ecosystem of India. The platform is driven by the vision to make skill development more innovative, accessible and personalised in its embodiment, focusing on digital technology and industry 4.0 skills. It aims to be a breakthrough in accelerating skilled talent hiring, and facilitating lifelong learning and career advancement.

KCR Launches 9 New Govt. Medical Colleges in Telangana, Aims for One in Each District

  • Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao inaugurated nine new government medical colleges across the state. Addressing the event via video conference, Rao said that the number of government medical colleges in Telangana has gone up to 26 from 5 in 2014 when the state was carved out of Andhra Pradesh.
  • Kumrambhim Asifabad, Kamareddy, Khammam, Vikarabad, Jangaon, Rajanna Sirsilla, Nirmal, Jaishankar Bhopalpalli, and Karimnagar Medical Colleges were inaugurated by the Chief Minister.
