Taiwan's Main Airport Becomes Battleground for Simulated Chinese Invasion
Taiwan's Taoyuan International Airport became the scene of a simulated Chinese invasion for the first time ever as the island's military conducted an anti-takeover drill to fend off any possible attack from Beijing.
The drill was designed to test the Taiwanese military's cross-branch coordination and emergency response capabilities during a simulated Chinese invasion.
The exercise was part of Taiwan's week-long massive wargames — the annual 'Han Kuang' (Han Glory) drills — which this year has included protecting civilian airports as Beijing ramps up military and political pressures on the island.
This is the first such drill held at Taiwan's biggest airport near the capital since it opened in 1979.
World Hepatitis Day is observed on July 28 every year with the primary objective of raising awareness about hepatitis on a global level.
World Hepatitis Day, initially observed on May 19, was later moved to July 28 in 2010. The World Hepatitis Alliance, established in 2007, organized the first community-driven World Hepatitis Day in 2008. This decision came after the World Health Assembly decided to honour the birthday of Dr. Baruch Samuel Blumberg, the American physician credited with discovering Hepatitis B in the 1960s.
World Hepatitis Day is an opportunity to step up national and international efforts on hepatitis, encourage actions and engagement by individuals, partners and the public and highlight the need for a greater global response as outlined in the WHO's Global hepatitis report of 2017.
