Canada Launches 'Digital Nomad Strategy' for Foreign Workers
Canada took a proactive approach to address its shortage of skilled workers, particularly in the tech industry. During Collision's tech conference in Toronto, the country's immigration minister launched of a 'digital nomad strategy' aimed at attracting talented individuals from around the world.
Under the digital nomad strategy, foreign workers are permitted to stay in Canada for up to six months. If they receive job offers during their stay, they have the opportunity to extend their time in the country. This initiative is designed to alleviate the shortage of skilled professionals in Canada's tech sector.
Canada aims to strike a balance between labor demand and supply by allowing skilled workers to remain in the country, contributing to its economic growth, and making investments within local communities. In addition to addressing the current shortage, the government is focused on long-term solutions, such as extending visa permits for international workers in Canada.

Canara Bank Offers UPI Payments through RuPay Credit Cards
Bengaluru-based Canara Bank became the first public sector bank in India to introduce UPI (Unified Payments Interface) payments for merchants through its RuPay Credit Card. This exciting feature is now accessible within the bank's 'Canara ai1' Banking Super App, thanks to a partnership with the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI).
This development means that Canara Bank customers can now make UPI payments to merchants directly from their RuPay Credit Cards. Customers will have to link their Canara Bank RuPay Credit Cards to their UPI IDs, to conduct credit card transactions using this secure and seamless digital payment method.
ICICI Lombard General Insurance and ICICI Prudential Life Insurance jointly launched a combi product, 'iShield', which provides customers with both health and life insurance under the use and file procedure.
The use and file procedure allows an insurer to launch a product without prior approval of the regulator. A combi product offers benefits of a life insurance, along with that of general or other insurance covers.
'iShield' will enable customers to take care of expenses required for medical treatments.

Virgin Galactic, the space venture established by British entrepreneur Richard Branson, achieved a significant milestone as it successfully completed its first manned mission to the edge of space. The inaugural commercial flight marked a momentous achievement for Virgin Galactic after two decades of dedicated efforts.
The mission featured two Italian Air Force personnel who were funded by the organisation. Colonel Walter Villadei, who is also slated for a future paid SpaceX mission to orbit, and Lieutenant Colonel Angelo Landolfi, a physician trained as a crew surgeon for Russian cosmonauts, were among the passengers.
Unlike its competitor Blue Origin, founded by Jeff Bezos, this particular mission had a research-oriented focus rather than catering to celebrities and affluent thrill-seekers.

Caroline Wozniacki is set to make a comeback to tennis after the former world number one said that she was ready to return to the Tour having retired from the sport in 2020 to start a family.
Danish player Wozniacki spent 71 weeks at the top of the world rankings and finished with 30 singles titles - including a Grand Slam crown at the Australian Open in 2018.
Wozniacki said she would first play at the Canadian Open in Montreal in August to get back into the groove before targeting the U.S. Open while her long-term goal is the 2024 Olympics in Paris.

The central government will organise a three-day international conference on green hydrogen in the national capital on July 5-7.
The event to be held at Vigyan Bhawan, will bring together the global scientific and industrial community to discuss recent advances and emerging technologies in the entire green hydrogen value chain.
The conference will enable the sector stakeholders to explore the evolving green hydrogen landscape and innovation-driven solutions in the sector.
Apart from domain-specific research interactions on hydrogen production, storage, distribution and downstream applications, the conference will also discuss green financing, human resource up skilling and start-up initiatives.

India and Tanzania finalised a five-year roadmap to expand overall bilateral defence cooperation including in areas of infrastructure building and collaboration in military equipment and technology.
Both sides agreed on the roadmap at the second edition of India-Tanzania Joint Defence Cooperation Committee (JDCC) meeting that was held in Arusha, Tanzania.

Ajay Banga, the President of the World Bank, was named by a prestigious philanthropic organisation to its annual 'Great Immigrants' list of honourees who have enriched and strengthened America and its democracy through their contributions and actions.

The Union Cabinet approved a total outlay of Rs. 3.70 lakh crore aimed at benefitting farmers through schemes.
Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said that the package has different components that are focused on the well-being and economic betterment of farmers by promoting sustainable agriculture.
The cabinet has approved the Urea Subsidy Scheme to ensure constant availability of urea to the farmers at the same price of Rs. 242/45 kg bag excluding taxes and neam coating charges.
Furthermore, he discussed the approval of the PM Programme for Restoration, Awareness Generation, Nourishment, and Amelioration of Mother Earth (PMPRANAM) as another aspect of the scheme.
National Exit Test for MBBS Students from Next May
The first National Exit test (NExT), a common licentiate examination to replace university-level final MBBS examination, National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test-PG (NEET-PG) and Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE), will be conducted in May 2024.
Clearing this examination will be a must to receive a registration as a doctor to practice medicine in India. It will also serve as a test for postgraduate selections for all specialties.
The National Medical Commission (NMC) made this announcement in a virtual meeting with medical colleges across India.
The medical education regulator also announced that the first step of NExT or NExT-1, which will test students on theoretical aspects, will be held twice annually in May and November while NExT- 2 which will evaluate students on practical and clinical skills will be held once a year.
President Droupadi Murmu Launches New ICAI CA Syllabus
President Droupadi Murmu inaugurated the CA Foundation Day celebrations and launched the new syllabus of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI). The event, marking ICAI's 75th anniversary, took place at Siri Fort Auditorium in New Delhi.
The new syllabus introduced by ICAI incorporates modern topics like Artificial Intelligence and Blockchain, aiming to equip CA aspirants with future-ready skills in line with International Education Standards and the National Education Policy, 2020.
