Natasa Pirc Musar Becomes First Female President of Slovenia
Natasa Pirc Musar, a lawyer hired by former US first lady Melania Trump, was elected Slovenia's first woman President.
Pirc Musar is a journalist and lawyer contested as an independent candidate with the backing of Slovenia's centre-left government. She ran against the ex-foreign minister and veteran leader Anze Logar.
Pirc Musar, who is known to have headed the country's data protection authority for a decade, won almost 54 per cent vote against Logar who received 46 per cent.
Shlok Mukherjee Wins India's 2022 Doodle for Google
Google announced Shlok Mukherjee as the winner of the 2022 Doodle for Google competition.
Sholk Mukherjee is from Kolkata and was declared the winner for India for his inspiring Doodle titled 'India on the Centre State'. His doddle also featured on Google.co.in on 14th November, 2022.
Shlok Mukherjee showcased India's scientific achievements and advancements through his doodle.
The Doodle for Google contest has been held in India since 2009.
In this competition, students from classes 1 to 10 can participate.
The entries of the students are evaluated by Google executives and a jury panel consisting of industry leaders and creative thinkers.
PM Modi to Embark on Three-day Visit to Indonesia
PM Modi has embarked the visit to Indonesia from November 14, to attend the 17th G20 Summit in Bali.
The summit's theme was "Recover Together, Recover Stronger". Three working sessions will be held as part of the G20 Summit Agenda.
These are food and energy security, health, and digital transformation. At the closing session, the Indonesian President will symbolically hand over the G20 Presidency to PM Modi.
India will formally assume G20 Presidency from December 2022.
Senior IAS officer Gaurav Dwivedi was appointed the Chief Executive Officer of public broadcaster Prasar Bharati.
A 1995-batch officer of Chhattisgarh cadre, Mr. Dwivedi will have a five-year tenure from the date he assumes charge.
Earlier, Dwivedi was the Chief Executive Officer of MyGovIndia, the citizen engagement platform of the government.
Shashi Shekhar Vempati was the CEO of Prasar Bharati from 2017 to 2022.
After Vempati completed his five-year tenure, Director General of Doordarshan Mayank Agrawal was given the additional charge of CEO Prasar Bharati in June 2022.
L&T, Mindtree Merger Gets Approval; Set to be Fifth Largest IT Services Firm
IT companies Larsen & Toubro Infotech (LTI) and Mindtree announced that their merger has come into effect following approval from regulators and shareholders. The merged entity LTIMindtree is now the fifth-largest IT services company in India in terms of current market capitalisation.
According to a BSE filing, as part of the merger, 73 shares of LTI will be granted to each shareholder of Mindtree for every 100 shares of Mindtree.
L&T, the merging entity's parent company will own 68.73 per cent of it. November 24 has been set as the record date to identify Mindtree shareholders who are qualified to receive equity shares of LTI.
LTI and Mindtree had announced their intent to merge in May 2022 and the effective date for the company to start operating was November 14.
41st India International Trade Fair begins in New Delhi
The 41st edition of the India International Trade Fair (IITF) begins at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi. Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal has inaugurated the fair, which will continue till the 27th of November.
This year the theme of the trade fair is Vocal For Local, Local to Global. 29 States and Union Territories are participating in the event. Bihar, Jharkhand, and Maharashtra are Partner States while Uttar Pradesh and Kerala are participating as Focus States in the fair.
Various Central Ministries, Departments, Commodity Boards, and PSUs are participating in this event to showcase their achievements.
12 foreign countries including Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bahrain, Belarus, Iran, Nepal, Thailand, Turkey, UAE, and UK are participating in the fair.
DigiLocker Integrated with Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission
DigiLocker has successfully integrated with Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission, so that users can digitally store their health records and link them with their Ayushman Bharat health account.
Its aim is digital empowerment of citizens by providing access to authentic digital documents.
The issued documents in the DigiLocker system are deemed to be at par with the original physical documents. With this, users can now utilize DigiLocker as a Personal Health Records app.
Sri Lanka will host the U19 Men's World Cup 2024, while Malaysia and Thailand will stage the U19 Women's T20 World Cup 2025, the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced.
The hosts were selected through a competitive bidding process overseen by a Board sub-committee chaired by Martin Snedden.
The ICC Board accepted the recommendations of the committee, who conducted a thorough review of each bid along with ICC management.
The 2026 edition of the U19 Men's World Cup will be staged in Zimbabwe and Namibia, while Bangladesh and Nepal will jointly host the U19 Women's T20 World Cup 2027.
Shiva Thapa Clinches Silver Medal at Asian Boxing Championships
Shiva Thapa has clinched a silver medal at the 2022 Asian Elite Boxing Championships held in Amman, Jordan.
He had to settle for a silver medal after losing to Uzbekistan's Ruslan Abdullayev in the men's 63-kg finals.
India finished the Championships with 12 medals, which included four gold, two silver and six bronze.
All the gold medals came through women's boxers, Lovlina Borgohain, Saweety Boora, Parveen and Alfiya Pathan.
Kabaddi World Cup 2025 to be Hosted by West Midlands
The World Kabaddi Federation announced that the UK's West Midlands Region will host the 2025 Kabaddi World Cup.
This will be the first time that the Kabaddi World Cup will be held outside Asia. It will be organised by England Kabaddi, Scottish Kabaddi, and the British Kabaddi League.
The tournament will feature 16 teams (men and women), including from India, Iran, and Pakistan.
The first Kabaddi World Cup was held in Melaka, Malaysia in July 2019. The men's and women's title was won by the Indian team.
India, Finland Agree to Explore New Areas of Cooperation
India and Finland agreed to enhance partnership in areas such as digital partnership in Future ICT, Future Mobile Technologies and digital education.
Both the countries also emphasised on having institutionalised joint working groups on areas of mutual interest.
The decision was taken during a meeting between Finland's Minister of Education and Culture Petri Honkonen and Minister of Science and Technology Jitendra Singh at North Block in New Delhi.
He was accompanied by a high level delegation which later held a separate meeting with the Indian delegation in the presence of the two Ministers.
Honkonen's visit came in the wake of the announcement made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Finnish counterpart Sanna Marin during a Summit meeting on 16 March, 2021.
Indian Navy Conducted 'Prasthan' an Offshore Security Exercise
Indian Navy has conducted 'Prasthan', a structured exercise to evaluate organisational effectiveness in protecting offshore assets off Mumbai on an Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) platform 150 km into the sea.
'Prasthan' is conducted twice a year under the aegis of Headquarters, Western Naval Command. It aims to assess various measures and protocols conceived to address security threats and other contingencies that may arise in offshore oil production platforms.
Partner agencies such as the Indian Navy, Indian Air Force, Indian Coast Guard, ONGC, Mumbai Port Authority (MbPA), the police, fisheries, and customs activated their emergency procedures to deal with the contingencies.
Religare Enterprises Signs Olympian Yogeshwar Dutt as Brand Ambassador
Financial services company Religare Enterprises Limited (REL) signed Padma Shri awardee and Indian freestyle wrestler Yogeshwar Dutt, as its brand ambassador.
He will be the face of the company's integrated brand marketing campaigns across mediums, the company said in a statement. Dutt is an Olympics, Asian Games and Commonwealth Games medallist.

Indian Badminton player PV Sindhu has launched the mascots for Fit India Movement's Fit India School Week initiative 2022.
The mascots are "Toofan and Toofani". Objective – To celebrate fitness and sports in various forms and reaffirm its importance amongst the school fraternity.
The Fit India Movement, which was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the year 2019, launched its annual 'Fit India School Week' program in December 2019.
The 4th edition of Fit India School Week will start on 15 November, 2022.
Indian-origin Sikh Wins NSW Australian of the Year Award
Amar Singh an Indian-origin Sikh volunteer, who experienced ethnic slurs because of his beard and turban, was honoured along with three others with the prestigious 2023 New South Wales Australian of the Year Award for supporting the community during floods, bushfires, drought and the pandemic.
The national award honoured the achievements of community members, while emphasising the importance of service to the nation of Australia.
Amar Singh, a Sikh, founded the "Turbans 4 Australia" seven years ago, a charity organisation that works towards supporting the displaced and the vulnerable impacted by natural calamities.

Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports announced the National Sports Awards 2022. The awardees will receive their awards from the President of India at a specially organized function at Rashtrapati Bhavan on 30th November, 2022.
Based on the recommendations of the Committee and after due scrutiny, Government has decided to confer awards upon the following sportspersons, coaches and entities.
This year, for the first time, applications were invited only online and sportspersons/coaches/entities were permitted to self-apply through a dedicated portal.
A large number of nominations were received for these awards this year, which were considered by the Selection Committee headed by Justice A. M. Khanwilkar, Retd. Judge, Supreme Court of India and consisting members from eminent sportspersons, persons having experience in sports journalism and sports administrators.
Four Schemes to Empower Students, Youths Approved by Jharkhand Cabinet
The Jharkhand Cabinet on approved four ambitious schemes to promote education and skill development of students and youths.
The schemes are Mukhya Mantri Shiksha Prothsahan Yojana (MMSPY), Eklavya Prasikshan Yojana (EPY) and Guruji Student Credit Card Yojana (GSCCY) of the Higher and Technical Education department, and Labour department's Mukhya Mantri Sarathi Yojana (MMSY).
President Droupadi Murmu officially launched these schemes on Jharkhand's Foundation Day on November 15.
Under the MMSPY, class 10 pass students will be provided free coaching at Jharkhand-based institutions of national repute for entrance examinations of engineering, medical, common law admission test, mass communication, fashion designing, hotel management and chartered accounting.
Along with free coaching, a provision of Rs. 2,500 scholarship per month has also been decided for lodging and other expenses of student.
RBI-developed Financial Literacy Curriculum Coming in Schools, All But 3 States Agree
All states, with the exception of three, have agreed to include a financial literacy programme for school education boards that has been developed by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and other authorities.
"If we could inculcate basic financial literacy in school education, then that would be much better to expand financial literacy in the country", Anil Kumar Sharma, Executive Director RBI said.
"And as and when the curriculum is going for revision, the school boards will include it. So going forward, we will have this curriculum, especially for Classes 6-10", he added, while speaking at Sa-Dhan National Conference on Financial Inclusion 2022.
IIM Bangalore Joins Hands with Assam Govt. to Launch CM's Young Professional Programme
The Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore (IIM Bangalore) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Assam to jointly operate the 'Chief Minister's Young Professional Programme' (CMYPP).
The Chief Minister's Young Professional Programme has been designed by IIM Bangalore and anchored by the school's Office of Executive Education Programmes. This programme is meant for early career individuals with a post-graduate degree in any field and willing to work in the district.
The first batch of CMYPP will see more than 65 professionals being recruited jointly by the Assam Government and IIM Bangalore. Upon successful completion of the two-year programme, the participants will be awarded a certificate in public policy and management by IIM Bangalore.
India to Build its First Hydrogen Fuel Cell Catamaran Vessel
Cochin Shipyard signed an MoU with the Inland Waterways Authority of India to build the country's first hydrogen fuel cell catamaran vessel for Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh. Another MoU was signed by the Shipyard for the construction of six electric catamaran vessels for Uttar Pradesh and two more such vessels for Guwahati.
The MoU by the Shipyard was signed in the presence of Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal.
Union Minister for Heavy Industry Mahendra Nath Pandey, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, and other dignitaries were part of the event.
The Cochin Shipyard informed us that the air-conditioned hydrogen fuel cell catamaran vessel will have a seating capacity for 100 passengers.
It will be deployed at Varanasi after the test and trials are done in Kochi.
The air-conditioned electric hybrid vessels are designed for short-distance commutes in riverine waters.
The Manipur Forest Authority celebrated the 7th edition of the Amur Falcon Festival in Tamenglong district, Imphal. The objective of the Amur Falcon Festival was to spread awareness about the protection and conservation of the Amur Falcon.
Amur Falcon is the world's longest-flying migratory bird. It is a day-long festival that is generally celebrated in the first or second week of November to strengthen human-nature relationships and acknowledge the importance of the small raptor in the lives of people. The first edition of the Amur Falcon Festival was celebrated in 2015.
The Amur Falcon Festival was attended by Forest, environment, and climate change minister, Thongam Biswajit Singh, water resources minister, Awangbow Newmai, and Principal Chief conservator of forest & head of forest force, Dr. AK Joshi.
