After Truss quit, ending her six weeks in power, those who want to replace her were trying to find the 100 votes from Conservative lawmakers needed to run in a contest which the party hopes will reset its ailing fortunes.
With the Conservatives all but facing a wipe out in the next national election according to opinion polls, the race is on to become the fifth British premier in six years.
Germany Hails 1st Delivery of Green Hydrogen from UAE, to Replace Coal
Germany took formal delivery of its first, modest, batch of hydrogen from the United Arab Emirates, a green fuel it hopes will help replace coal and gas used by energy-intensive industries in future.
Germany is scrambling to substitutenatural gas imports from Russia while also staying on track for its ambitious goal of cutting greenhouse gas emissions to net zero by 2025.
One alternative is energy-rich hydrogen gas, provided it is made with the help of renewable energy. Since hydrogen is difficult to transport it is sometimes stored as liquid ammonia.
The delivery in Hamburg was modest: just a single container with 13 metric tons of ammonia.
Russia Barred from Future Projects of FATF Due to Ukraine Invasion
Russia was barred from participating in future projects of global terror financing and money laundering watchdog Financial Action Task Force (FATF). FATF chairperson T. Raja Kumar said that the move came in the wake of Moscow's invasion of Ukraine. He said that Russia's actions continued to violate FATF's core principles, which aim to promote the security, safety and integrity of financial systems.
REC, PFC ink MoA with STPL for Financing Buxar Thermal Power Plant
REC and Power Finance Corporation (PFC) - CPSEs under the Ministry of Power - signed a memorandum of loan agreement with SJVN Thermal (STPL) for financing 2x660 MW coal based Buxar Thermal Power Plant (BTPP). STPL is a 100% wholly owned subsidiary of SJVN (Mini Ratna CPSE under administrative control of Ministry of Power, Govt. of India).
STPL is currently executing 2x660 MW coal based Buxar Thermal Power Plant (BTPP) which is a green field project designed on supercritical technology with the objective to improve the reliability of India's Eastern Electricity region and providing power to the state of Bihar.

BDL Signs MOU with Dassault Aviation to Integrate ASTRA & SAAW Missiles on Rafale Jets
Bharat Dynamics signed an MoU with French Dassault Aviation for the integration of BDL Weapon Systems like Astra BVR & SAAW weapons on the IAF Rafale fighter jets.
Ministry of Defence, on May 31, 2022, had signed a contract with Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL) for supply of ASTRA MK-I Beyond Visual Range (BVR) Air to Air Missile (AAM) and associated equipment for the Indian Air Force & Indian Navy at a cost of Rs 2,971 crore under Buy (Indian-IDDM) category.

The Indo-Tibetan Border Police Force (ITBP) observed its 61st Raising Day on October 24, 2022. The ITBF was raised in the aftermath of the Chinese aggression in 1962. It is one of the five bodies of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF).

The UN is guided by the purposes and principles contained in its founding Charter which was signed in 1945. The United Nations Day commemorates the signing of that charter. According to their official website, the United Nations is "One place where the world's nations can gather together, discuss common problems, and find shared solutions."
The United Nations officially came into existence on 24 October 1945, when the Charter was ratified by China, France, the Soviet Union, the United Kingdom, the United States and by a majority of other signatories. The name "United Nations" was coined by the United States President Franklin D. Roosevelt and first used in the Declaration by United Nations of 1 January 1942, during Second World War.
World Development Information Day
Each year the United Nations marks October 24 as World Development Information Day. This day is observed to create awareness towards the problems surrounding development in different nations and how to overcome them. The day is marked on the same day as United Nations Day, which was formed on October 24, 1945.
In 1972, the UN General Assembly established World Development Information Day with Resolution 3038 (XXVII). The international organisation hoped to make people aware of developmental problems that countries across the world continue to face. At the time, the standard of living was abysmally low in many countries. The day was established to increase international cooperation to solve developmental problems and start improving living standards across the globe.

Tripura CM Inaugurates State's First Government English Medium College
Chief Minister of Tripura Manik Saha along with Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath inaugurated the first English medium general degree college of the state in the city having 100 intake capacity. The first five basic subjects of the arts stream include compulsory Bengali and English. Tripura government has built the general degree college at a budget of Rs 1 crore by renovating an old Teaching College.
The state government aims to make the state an education hub with the inauguration of its first English medium government college.
A large number of schools at each of the revenue blocks have been converted into an English medium government institution with all modern educational tools.
The exact syllabus of CBSE has been introduced in the schools which are followed by recruiting a large number of trained teachers and training up to over 40,000 existing teachers.
