Iran demands Stronger US Guarantees of Lifting Sanctions to Reach Nuke Deal
The Iranian Foreign Minister demanded a stronger text from the US over its guarantees of lifting sanctions in order to reach an agreement to revive the 2015 nuclear deal.
If America acts realistically and strengthens the existing text, an agreement will be within reach.
The Iranian top diplomat also demanded the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) refrain from "political behaviour," noting Iran won't accept any continued accusation made by IAEA when all the parties return to the nuclear deal, formally known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
Reckitt Benckiser CEO Laxman Narasimhan Steps Down
Reckitt Benckiser Group announced that its CEO Laxman Narasimhan will step down from his position on September 30, 2022, and would relocate to the United States, for personal and family reasons. He was also approached for a new opportunity. Narasimhan had previously worked at PepsiCo and McKinsey, before joining Reckitt in September 2019.
The maker of Dettol and Lysol disinfectants, in the announcement, said that Nicandro Durante who is the current Senior Independent Director, would step into the role of CEO, as the Board evaluates and selects the future leadership.
Ashok Leyland Bags Order for Supplying 1,400 School Buses in UAE
Ashok Leyland, the flagship brand of the Hinduja Group, would supply 1,400 school buses in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the company's largest ever such deal in the West Asian nation.
The 55-seater Falcon and 32-seater Oyster models will be supplied from Ashok Leyland's $50 million manufacturing facility in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE, which is the only certified local bus-making facility in the entire GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council).
The fleet deal was bagged by Ashok Leyland's UAE distribution partners, Swaidan Trading-Al Naboodah Group.
Rajasthan Announces Amnesty Scheme for Mining
The Rajasthan government announced an amnesty scheme for miners.
The mines department's Arrears and Interest Waiver Scheme, 2022, would be applicable to the outstanding dues of those in the business of minor minerals.
This scheme is being implemented on mining leases, quarry licences, dead rent on a temporary work permit for river sand, royalties, penalties, etc up to March 31, 2021.
A maximum relief of 90 per cent and a minimum of 40 per cent on the principal in different slabs would be given in accordance with the outstanding period.
Shivpal Yadav Announces Formation of New Outfit for Yadav Community
Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party Lohia founder Shivpal Yadav announced the formation of a new organisation for the Yadav community, and said that it will fight for the cause of social justice.
The organisation -- Yadukul Renaissance Mission -- is not for or against any political party.
While Shivpal is the patron of the organisation, former MP from Sambhal DP Yadav is its president while writer Vishwatma is founder member of the Mission.
Vasudha Gupta Assumes Charge as DG, AIR News
Senior Indian Information Service officer Vasudha Gupta assumed charge as the director general of the News Services division of the All India Radio (AIR).
A 1989-batch IIS officer, Gupta has served in various capacities in the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting during her career spanning more than 32 years.
Before her appointment as the director general of the News Services division of the AIR, she served as the DG, Press Information Bureau (PIB).
PM Modi commissioned INS Vikrant, the country's first indigenously built aircraft carrier at the Cochin Shipyard. The Prime Minister said that he dedicated INS Vikrant to Chhatrapathi Shivaji.
INS Vikrant is the largest ship ever built in India's maritime history at a cost of Rs. 20,000 crore.
Modi also unveiled the Indian Navy's new ensign which dropped the St George's Cross and incorporated the royal seal of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
Cabinet Committee on Security Approves Tejas Mark-2 Project
The Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) approved Tejas Mark-2 Project. The CCS sanctioned Rs. 6,500 crore for designing and developing of Tejas Mark-2 fighter jet with prototypes, flight testing, and certification. The allocation came in addition to the existing Rs. 2,500 crore sanctioned to HAL.
The advanced version of Tejas LCA will feature a series of additions to its flight and fight capabilities. Tejas 2.0 will be equipped with more powerful GE- F414 engines in the 98 Kilonewton thrust class, which will allow it to extend its flight range and carry additional payload and weapons as compared to the existing version.

Kerala Assembly Passes Contentious University Laws Bill
The Kerala Assembly passed the contentious University Laws (Amendment) Bill 2022, which would result in curtailing the powers of the Governor as Chancellor of state universities.
The opposition Congress-UDF boycotted the House proceedings before voting alleging that the government was trying to appoint "puppets" of the ruling party in key posts in varsities.
The Bill was passed at a time when the ruling CPI (M) was facing nepotism charges from opposition parties in connection with the faculty appointment in many universities in the state.
The new Bill would restrict the authority of the Governor, who holds the position of Chancellor, in appointing Vice Chancellors (VCs) of universities.
NSE Academy, HDFC AMC Launch Financial Literacy Programme for College Students
NSE Academy Limited (NAL), a wholly owned subsidiary of the National Stock Exchange of India Limited (NSE) and HDFC Asset Management Company Limited (HDFC AMC) collaborated and launched a programme named 'Invest-Verse' for college students.
The course will also be made available on HDFC Mutual Fund's MFBytes application. The programmes will be delivered through online and application-based training and will be co-certified by both institutions.
The aim of the programme is to reach the next wave of first-time investors by educating and empowering them to be earners while promoting financial literacy. The programme attendees will be co-certified by both institutions.

This year, the objective of the Poshan Maah is to trigger Poshan Maah through Gram Panchayats as Poshan Panchayats with key focus on "Mahila aur Swasthya" and "Bacha aur Shiksha". Rashtriya Poshan Maah serves as a platform to bring focus to the discourse of nutrition and good health.
In the 5th Rashtriya Poshan Maah the aim is to convert Jan Andolan into Jan Bhagidari to fulfil the Prime Minister's vision of a Suposhit Bharat.
The verdict was reserved by the Supreme Court in a petition that seeks implementation of the Justice Srikrishna Commission report filed which indicated that many police officers and certain leaders of the Shiv Sena were related to the 1992 Mumbai riots.
