India will export wheat to Egypt. Egypt is one of the world's biggest importers of wheat. Egypt imported 6.1 million tonnes of wheat in 2021 and India was not part of the list of accredited countries which could export wheat to Egypt.
More than 80 per cent of Egypt's wheat imports estimated to be close to two billion US dollars in 2021 were from Russia and Ukraine.
Famed Pak Philanthropist Bilquis Edhi Dies At 74
Bilquis Bano Edhi, the wife of Pakistan's renowned and revered humanitarian and philanthropist late Abdul Sattar Edhi, passed away at a private hospital. Bilqis was one of the most active philanthropists in the country and co-chaired Edhi Foundation with her son Faisal after her husband's passing in 2016.
She was born in Bantwa, India and migrated to Pakistan after the Partition. Together with her husband their charity has saved thousands of unwanted babies.
Japan's Population Logs Record Fall Of 644,000 In 2021
Japan's population logged the steepest fall on record, dropping by 644,000 to just over 125.5 million in 2021, according to Japan government statistics.
It declined for the 11th consecutive year and the drop was the biggest since comparable data became available in 1950, said the ministry.
The number of Japanese nationals stood at 12 crore 27 lakhs 80,000, a drop of six lakh 18,000 compared to a year earlier. The country logged 8 lakh 31,000 births in 2021, outpaced by over 14 lakh deaths during the same period.
The working population, or people aged from 15 to 64, decreased by 5 lakh 84,000 hitting a record low.

Govt Enhances Authorised Share Capital Of Three Public Sector General Insurance Companies
Three public sector general insurance businesses – National Insurance Company Limited, Oriental Insurance Company Limited, and United India Insurance Company – have had their authorised share capital increased by the government. This will allow for a capital inflow of Rs. 5,000 crore into these businesses.
The permitted capital for National Insurance will now be 15,000 crore (1,500 crore shares with a face value of 10 apiece), up from the current 7,500 crore, according to a notification released by the Finance Ministry (1,500 crore shares with a face value of ten each).
Alliance Air Becomes Central Govt's Independent Business Unit
Regional airline Alliance Air became an independent business unit under the Central government's control. Alliance Air was an esrtwhile part of Air India prior to the latter's divestment. At present, it is operated as a division under the Air India Asset Holdings Pvt Ltd (AIAHL).
It was founded in 1996 as a wholly-owned subsidiary of then Indian Airlines, which later merged with Air India.
The airline mainly operates on domestic regional routes as part of the government's Regional Connectivity Scheme. Currently, it has 19 aircraft -- 18 ATR-72s and 1 Dornier-228 -- which it operates on over 100 regional routes connecting Tier-II and Tier-III cities.
Three Chinese Astronauts Return To Earth After Six Months In Space
The two men and one woman -- Zhai Zhigang, Ye Guangfu and Wang Yaping -- returned to Earth shortly before 10 am Beijing time (0200 GMT), after six months aboard the Tianhe core module of China's Tiangong space station.
Three Chinese astronauts returned to Earth after 183 days in space, ending China's longest crewed mission as it continues its quest to become a major space power. The Shenzhou-13 spacecraft was the latest mission in Beijing's drive to rival the United States, after landing a rover on Mars and sending probes to the Moon.
The world's second-largest economy haD poured billions into its military-run space programme, with hopes of having a permanently crewed space station by 2022 and eventually sending humans to the Moon.

Ace Indian swimmer Sajan Prakash won the gold medal in the men's 200m butterfly event at the Danish Open 2022 in Copenhagen.
In 2021, Sajan Prakash clocked the national record timing of 1:56:38 in the 200m butterfly to become the first Indian swimmer to qualify for the Olympics directly by breaching 'A' standard time. He also became the first and only Indian swimmer to make it to two Olympic Games.
At the last Asian Games in 2018, Sajan Prakash finished fifth in the 200m butterfly event after becoming the first Indian swimmer since 1986 to qualify for the finals.
Meanwhile, In the men's 1500m freestyle event, 16-year-old Vedaant Madhavan, son of Indian actor R Madhavan, achieved his personal best time of 15.57.86 to clinch the silver medal in the 10-swimmer final.
Cricketer Joe Root Steps Down From England's Test Captaincy
Joe Root stepped down as England Test captain following a run of poor results capped by dispiriting tours of Australia and the Caribbean. The 31-year-old was appointed as Alastair Cook's successor in 2017 and holds the record for the most number of matches and wins as England Test captain. His 27 victories put him ahead of Michael Vaughan (26), Alastair Cook, and Andrew Strauss (24 each). But of his last 17 Tests in charge, he won just one.
Root had been an exceptional role model during his tenure, balancing the demands of Test captaincy whilst continuing to shine brilliantly through his own personal performances.
Andrew Mcdonald Appointed As Australia's New Head Coach
Andrew McDonald has been appointed head coach of Australia in all three formats for the next four years after overseeing Australia's Test series victory in Pakistan in a caretaker role. McDonald served as an assistant under Justin Langer since 2019 and took the reins in Pakistan after Langer declined the offer of a short-term contract extension and promptly resigned. The 40-year-old was widely expected to take the head coach role on a permanent basis.
McDonald already has batting coach Michael Di Venuto, fielding coach Jeff Vaughan and spin bowling consultant Sri Sriram on his staff but will be looking for a full-time bowling coach, having occupied the role before stepping up as caretaker.

PM Modi Unveils a 108-Feet Statue Of Lord Hanuman At Morbi In Gujarat
The Prime Minister inaugurated the statue of Lord Hanuman at the Ashram of 'Param Pujya Keshvanand ji' at Morbi in Saurashtra region of Gujarat. This is the second of the four statues being set up in the four directions across the country, as part of Hanumanji Char Dham project.
The first statue in the series was set up in the north in Shimla in 2010, and work on the statue in the south at Rameswaram also started.

THDC India Signs Pact With Rajasthan Govt To Produce 10,000 Mw Of Renewable Energy
THDC India Limited signed an MoU with the Rajasthan government to produce 10,000 MW of renewable energy.
The project will be completed in five years at a cost of Rs 40,000 crore. The memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed by THDC CMD Rajiv Vishnoi and Rajasthan Renewable Corporation Ltd Chairman and Additional Secretary (Power) Subodh Agrawal. Barren, infertile pieces of land which are of little use to their owners will be taken on lease for the project to produce 17,000 crore units of electricity.
Veteran Television Producer, Gol Maal Actor Manju Singh Passes Away
Veteran Hindi television presenter and actor Manju Singh passed away due to cardiac arrest. Manju Singh was one of the pioneers in the Indian television industry who produced remarkable shows Swaraj, Ek Kahani, Show Time among others. Fondly called 'didi', she was the anchor of the children's show, Khel Khilone which ran for seven years. Singh had also appeared in Hrishikesh Mukherjee's Gol Maal, where she played the role of Ratna.
She started as a television producer in 1983 with Show Time. Her show Ek Kahani was based on literary short stories from several regional languages. In the recent past, Singh was associated with several international film festivals for children and young adults. In 2015, she received recognition for her contribution to the creative arts and the education field and was nominated as a member to the Central Advisory Board of Education (CABE) by the government of India.

Udan Scheme Selected For Award For Excellence In Public Administration 2020
Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) flagship Regional Connectivity Scheme UDAN (UdeDeshkaAamNagrik) has been selected for Prime Minister's Award for Excellence in Public Administration 2020 under the category "Innovation (General) – Central".
Government of India has initiated this award to acknowledge, recognize and reward extraordinary and innovative work done by Districts and Organizations of State/Government. This scheme emphasises on Good Governance, Qualitative achievements, and last mile connectivity rather than only on achievement of quantitative targets. The award consists of a trophy, scroll and an incentive of Rs 10 lakhs.
Launched in 2016, UDAN scheme aims to fulfil the aspirations of the common man by following the vision of UdeDeshkaAamNagrik, with an enhanced aviation infrastructure and air connectivity in tier II and III cities. In a short span of 5 years, today 415 UDAN routes connect 66 underserved/unserved airports, including heliports and water aerodromes, and over 92 lakh people have benefited from it. Fda Authorizes First-Ever Breathing Test For Detecting Covid-19 Infection
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) authorized the first test, InspectIR COVID-19 Breathalyzer, to detect COVID-19 through the breath for emergency use. The InspectIR COVID-19 Breathalyzer which is about the size of a carry-on piece of luggage is able to identify five volatile organic compounds tied to the coronavirus in a person's breath using a technique known as gas chromatography gas mass-spectrometry, delivering results within three minutes, according to the FDA, the statement reads.
The agency said that in a study of 2,409 people, which included both people with and without symptoms, the test had a 99.3 per cent specificity rate, which measures the per cent of correctly identified negative test samples.
Extreme Poverty In India Declined By 12.3 Percentage Points During 2011-2019: World Bank Report
Poverty in India is 12.3 percentage points lower in 2019 as compared to 2011. The poverty headcount rate has declined from 22.5 percent in 2011 to 10.2 percent in 2019. According to policy research working paper of World Bank, Poverty reduction was higher in rural areas as compared to urban India. Rural poverty dropped by 14.7 percent while urban poverty declined by 7.9 percentage points during 2011 to 2019.
According to the study, farmers with small landholding sizes have experienced higher income growth. Real incomes for farmers with the smallest landholdings have grown by 10 percent in annualized terms between the two survey rounds in 2013 and 2019 compared to a 2 percent growth for farmers with the largest landholding.

Alliance Air Starts Direct Flight Service Between Mumbai And Keshod In Gujarat Under Udan Regional Connectivity Scheme
Union Minister for Civil Aviation Jyotiraditya Scindia flagged off the first flight from Keshod Gujarat to Mumbai and vice-versa under UDAN Regional Connectivity Scheme. Alliance Air has commenced the first flight from Keshod to Mumbai and vice-versa. Mr. Scindia has also inaugurated upgraded facilities at Keshod Airport. Keshod airport was set up by the then Nawab of Junagadh in 1930 and was lying unused before Prime Minister Narendra Modi decided to revive it.
Keshod airport has been revived by the Airports Authority of India -AAI at an investment of 25 crore rupees. UDAN-RCS under the National Civil Aviation Policy was launched in 2016. The objective of the UDAN Scheme is to connect small and medium cities with big cities through air service.
Puducherry LG Inaugurated Beach Festival Sea PONDY-2022
Lieutenant Governor Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan inaugurated the Puducherry's first-ever Beach Festival I Sea PONDY-2022 in the presence of the Chief Minister N. Rangasamy.
The festival will be celebrated for four days in Puducherry Gandhi Beach, Pondy Marina and Sandunes of Paradise Beach. Various cultural events and contests were held during the festival.
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, Dr. Tamilisai said that the UT Administration is making all efforts to make Puducherry BEST as envisaged by the Prime Minister during his visit to the Union Territory.
