According to preliminary results, Germany's centre-left Social Democrats (SPD) have narrowly won the country's federal elections, beating the party of outgoing Chancellor Angela Merkel.
The SPD secured 25.7% of the vote, while the ruling conservative bloc gained 24.1%.
The Greens achieved the best result in their party's history, coming in third with 14.8% of the ballot.
SDP leader Olaf Scholz earlier said his party had a clear mandate to rule, as his party started to edge into the lead.
Exit polls predicted a dead heat, but this election has been unpredictable from the start, and the result was never going to be the end of the story. For one thing, the outgoing chancellor is going nowhere until the coalition is formed - and that may have to wait until Christmas.
The successor's task is to lead Europe's foremost economy over the next four years, with climate change at the top of voters' agenda.
Govt. Extends Tenure of Company Law Committee by One Year
The government has extended by one year the tenure of the Company Law Committee, which was constituted back in 2019.
The tenure of the panel, which was set up by the corporate affairs ministry in September 2019, was extended last year also.
The committee has the mandate for examining and making recommendations to the government on various issues related to implementation of the Companies Act and the Limited Liability Partnership Act.
CAG Murmu Becomes External Auditor of International Atomic Energy Agency
India's Comptroller and Auditor General G. C. Murmu was selected as the external auditor of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), a prestigious institution that promotes peaceful use of nuclear energy.
Murmur received majority support of the IAEA general conference and his tenure will be for six years, from 2022 to 2027.
Murmu assumed office as the Comptroller and Auditor General of India on August 8 last year. Before assuming the charge, he served as the first Lt Governor of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
HAL Signs Pact with Alliance Air for Deployment of Civil Do-228 Aircraft
State-run aerospace behemoth Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) signed a lease agreement with Alliance Air Aviation Limited for the supply of two Civil Do-228 aircraft for regional operations in Arunachal Pradesh, aimed at giving boost to India's Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS).
The HAL Do- 228 is a versatile aircraft well-suited for operations in the North East and has the capabilities of short take-off and landing, ability to land and take-off from semi-prepared runways.
This development opens a new vista in civil aviation for HAL as the company is keen to increase its footprint in the regional civil aviation sector.

Apple's co-creator Steve Wozniak has launched a new space start-up called Privateer Space, bringing potential competition to a field dominated by billionaires Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos and Richard Branson. PM Launches Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission
Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission, under which a digital health ID will be provided to people that will contain their health records, and asserted that it has the potential to bring revolutionary changes in healthcare.
In his address after the launch, Modi said that the mission marks a new phase in efforts of the last seven years to strengthen health facilities.
The pilot project of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission was announced by the Prime Minister on August 15, 2020.
Currently, Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission is being implemented in a pilot phase in six union territories.
Lieutenant General Nav K Khanduri was appointed as the next General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Chandimandir-based Western Command.
He is the first officer from the Army Air Defence to be elevated to the rank of Army Commander. Lt Gen Khanduri will take over from Lt. Gen. RP Singh who superannuates on October 31.
Earlier, Lt. Gen. Khanduri has served as the General Officer Commanding, 33 Corps in the north-east and as Director-General of Operational Logistics and Strategic Management, at Army Headquarters. Commissioned in December 1983, he is an alumnus of the Rashtriya Indian Military College and the National Defence Academy.

Troops from China and Pakistan launched a joint anti-terror exercise as part of SCO Regional Anti-Terrorism Structure (RATS).
The opening ceremony of the Joint Anti-Terrorist Exercise (JATE)-2021 was held at the National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC) Pabbi in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.
JATE was conducted with a view to practice and master various drills and procedures involved in Counter Terrorism operations including Cordon & Search, Compound Clearance, Close Quarter Battle and medical evacuation.
The exercise is aimed at enhancing synergy and interoperability among Special Services and Law Enforcement Agencies of Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) member countries for combating international terrorism, practice mechanisms to respond to a crisis situation and capacity building of the forces.

Manga artist Takao Saito, who created the longest-running Japanese comic book series of all time, died aged 84.
Saito's best-known work was Golgo 13, the tale of a professional hitman, first published in 1968 and later adapted into games and films.
Its 201st edition came out in July 2021, breaking the Guinness world record for the most volumes ever published of a single manga series.
Born in western Japan in 1936, Saito had his first manga cartoon published in 1955, while he was working as a barber.
The success of another of his works, 1960's Typhoon Goro, led him to move from Osaka to Tokyo and launch his own production company.
