Venezuela Suspends Links with Dutch-controlled Island

Opposition leader and self-declared interim President Juan Guaidó has vowed to bring aid in from various points "one way or another" despite military efforts to block it.
Regional commander Vladimir Quintero later confirmed that Venezuela had ordered the suspension of air and sea links with Curaçao and the other two Dutch-controlled islands of Aruba and Bonaire.
In its first-ever drive against illegal discharge of industrial waste, the Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd. (DSIIDC) has fined 910 industries for directly releasing toxic effluents into drains.
The action is part of a survey that is currently under way in Delhi to identify the number of industries that are still not linked to a common effluent treatment plant (CETP), despite rules asking them to do so.
It is a first that an agency has started to map industries and their linkages to CETPs in Delhi. The DSIIDC said that until February 15, it inspected 7,794 units out of which show-cause notices have been issued to 956 for effluent release violations.
As per reports, the government has approved the disbursal of a recapitalisation package of Rs. 48,239 crore for 12 public sector banks.
This package has a four-fold objective: (i) bringing the better-performing banks currently in the Prompt Corrective Action (PCA) category out of it, (ii) helping those that have recently come out of PCA to stay out of it, (iii) equipping non-PCA banks to meet regulatory requirements, and (iv) helping the remaining PCA banks to meet their requirements as well.
The 12 banks are Allahabad Bank, Corporation Bank, Bank of India, Bank of Maharashtra, Punjab National Bank, Union Bank, Andhra Bank, Syndicate Bank, Central Bank, United Bank, UCO Bank, and Indian Overseas Bank.

Merger of Vijaya Bank and Dena Bank with BoB
Bank of Baroda said that the merger of Dena Bank and Vijaya Bank with itself would be effective from April 1 as per the scheme of amalgamation approved by the government.
The board of the bank fixed March 11, 2019, as record date for issuing and allotting equity shares of the Bank of Baroda to the shareholders of Vijaya Bank and Dena Bank.

Congress will contest nine Lok Sabha seats and the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) will field its candidates along with smaller parties for the remaining 30 constituencies in Tamil Nadu, as the two parties sealed an alliance for this summer's general elections a day after the Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) returned to the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) fold for the electoral battle.

Special Status to Goa
The BJP is willing to include the demand to grant special status to Goa in its manifesto for Lok Sabha elections.
Many groups in the coastal state have been demanding special status for Goa, which has been facing challenges from in-migration, scarce land resource and a resultant dilution of its identity.
According to BJP national vice president Vinay Sahasrabuddhe, BJP will implement the demand.
The BJP's assurance came at a time when Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has been demanding special category status for the southern state which was bifurcated to create Telangana in 2014.

The FOC or final operational clearance, coming on the first day of Aero India 2019, certifies that the world's lightest fighter plane is ready for battle.

New Combat Jet F-21
American Defence giant Lockheed Martin unveiled the F-21 multi-role fighter jet for India, to be produced locally, as it eyed a multi-billion dollar military order.
Lockheed Martin and Tata Advanced Systems would produce the F-21 in India, for India.
The US Defence major, which had earlier offered its F-16 fighter to India, said that the F-21 addresses the IAF's unique requirements and integrates India into the world's largest fighter aircraft ecosystem.
Lockheed Martin is a global security and aerospace company. It is principally engaged in the research, design, development, manufacture, integration and sustainment of advanced technology systems, products and services.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath is set to contest by-election from Chhindwara assembly constituency after the incumbent Congress MLA Deepak Saxena resigned from the seat. Nath is the Lok Sabha MP from Chhindwara.
Saxena, who is close to Kamal Nath had won the Chhindwara assembly seat for the fourth time in the November 2018 elections and also became the protem Speaker in the new Assembly.
Nath had taken oath as the chief minister of the state on December 17 last year. As per the rules, he has to get elected to the Assembly within six months.
Nath has represented Chhindwara Lok Sabha seat nine times since 1980, except once.
International Mother Language Day is a worldwide annual observance held on 21 February to promote awareness of linguistic and cultural diversity and promote multilingualism.
First announced by UNESCO on 17 November 1999, it was formally recognised by the United Nations General Assembly in a resolution establishing 2008 as the International Year of Languages.
The idea to celebrate International Mother Language Day was the initiative of Bangladesh.

According to a circular issued by Sanyam Bharadwaj, controller of exam (CBSE), the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) relaxed exam norms for the children of military and paramilitary force personnel who are fighting terrorism and Left wing extremism for the country and are killed in the line of duty.
If their wards wish to change their examination centre in the same city, they will be allowed to do so.
If they missed their practical examinations, the same would be conducted as per their convenience by April 10, 2019 by their school.
If these candidates wish to appear in the examination in any offered subject later, they will be permitted to do so.
Such students may request their school in this regard.
The school will then send their request to the regional office of CBSE for action latest by February 28 so that necessary action could be taken by the board.
Foreign tourists will not be allowed to visit Tibet until April 1, rights groups and tour operators have said that with the government tightening security ahead of the 60th anniversary of 1959's abortive uprising against Beijing coming up on March 10.
There was no formal announcement of the closure by the government but travel agencies operating in Tibet Autonomous Region (TAR) said that foreigners planning to visit the region should come before April 1, citing permit restrictions.
Access to the Himalayan region, one of the biggest provinces of China, is almost always restricted with special permits required to visit it; diplomats and foreign journalists are banned from visiting Tibet without government permission and handlers.
Every year since 2008, the TAR has been closed off to tourists for at least one month, coinciding with the anniversary of the March 10 Uprising in 1959 and protests in 2008. In 2018, authorities closed the TAR to foreigners from February 10 to April 1.

The Forbidden City, which was China's political centre for more than 500 years, is now known as the Palace Museum. China's Lantern Festival marks the end of Lunar New Year festivities.
