Global Response to Climate Change

  •  As many as 195 countries adopted a set of guidelines, 'the Paris Rulebook', for implementing the 2015 Paris Agreement to strengthen the global response to climate change.
  • The rulebook was adopted after two weeks of negotiations to resolve major differences between developed, developing and a coalition of least developed countries at the 24th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.

All India Manufacturers' Organisation Survey

  •  According to a survey by the All India Manufacturers' Organisation (AIMO), the TMSME segment (Traders, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises) has seen job losses of 35 lakh in the last four-and-half years.
  • As per the survey, job loss of 43% was reported in the trader segment, 32% in the micro segment, 35% in small segment and 24% in medium segment.
  • The survey, conducted by AIMO, covered over 34,000 TMSME representatives across India between October 1 and 30, 2018.

  • P. V. Sindhu defeated Nozomi Okuhara to win the title and became the first Indian to clinch a world series title.

Pant Surpassed Dhoni

  •  Rishabh Pant added another accolade to his name during the second Test match in Perth as he surpassed M. S. Dhoni, Wriddhman Saha and Syed Kirmani to become the wicket-keeper with the most number of dismissals in an India vs Australia Test series.
  • Pant achieved the feat when he completed the dismissal of Shaun Marsh.
  • With the dismissal, he overtook the previous record of 14 held by Kirmani.
  • Rishabh Pant surpassed Wriddhiman Saha becoming the India wicket-keeper to take the most number of catches in a Test match.
  • Pant broke the record with his 11th catch dismissing Mitchell Starc behind the wickets.
  • Earlier, Pant also became the first Indian wicket-keeper to take six catches in a Test innings against Australia.

Hockey World Cup 2018

  •  Belgium defeated Netherlands 3-2 via a penalty shoot-out to win the 2018 Hockey World Cup at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar.
  • Belgium registered its second biggest international title after the Olympics silver in Rio in 2016.
  • Defending champions Australia defeated England to clinch the third place. 
  • India's final ranking in the World Cup is sixth place.

India May Cut US Surveillance Drone Deal

  •  India may prune by half, a potential order to import hi-tech unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) from the United States due to financial constraints.
  • Instead of pursuing the navy's original requirement of 22 MQ-9B SeaGuardian UAVs to boost its intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance capabilities, India now plans to buy only 10 such systems under the US government's foreign military sales (FMS) programme.

Bhupesh Baghel New CM of Chhattisgarh

  •  Chhattisgarh Congress president Bhupesh Baghel has been named as the new Chief Minister of the state.
  • Baghel, hailing from the influential Kurmi (Other Backward Class) community, which accounts for around 14 per cent of the state population, is known for his political acumen with strong leadership qualities.
  • He took over the reins of the party in October 2014.
