Indian-American women have been honoured in the US in recognition of their achievements in diverse fields ranging from politics and business to civil rights activism and astrophysics.
The awardees are: Sheela Murthy, Jagruti Panwala, Madhulika Guhathakurta, Aruna Miller, Manisha Gaekwad, Ann Ramakumaran, and Suman Raghunathan.
They were honoured at the inaugural American Bazaar Women Entrepreneurs and Leaders Gala.

HDFC Bank to Hike Stake in CCIL
HDFC Bank will raise its stake in Clearing Corporation of India Ltd (CCIL) to 9% by acquiring 20 lakh shares of the company.
The deal is for a cash consideration of Rs. 124 crore.
The transaction is for acquisition of 4% equity in CCIL. The bank currently holds 5% of the total equity capital of CCIL.
Kathpalia Appointed to ED Post
Air India's former director for operations Capt. Arvind Kathpalia, who lost the post early this month for twice failing to clear alcohol tests before operating a flight, has been appointed to the position of executive director (ED).
Kathpalia has been serving the national carrier since the late 1980s.
China successfully launched five satellites, including four nano-satellites, on a single rocket from a launch centre in the country's northwest Gansu province.
Shiyan-6 satellite and four other microsatellites were launched by Long March-2D rocket and have successfully entered their pre-set orbit.
It was the 292th mission of the Long March rocket series.
India's First VoLTE International Roaming
Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd. (Jio) launched VoLTE based inbound International roaming between India and Japan.
With this, Jio has become India's first 4G mobile operator to provide VoLTE based international roaming services in India whereby international roamers will be enjoying HD voice and LTE high-speed Data.
Japan-based KDDI Corporation is the first international mobile service provider to avail of Jio's VoLTE calling and LTE data international roaming service which provides international travellers with access to high-speed data and voice services on Jio's all-IP, 4G-exclusive network.
External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj has announced that she will not contest the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
Swaraj, the BJP's most prominent woman leader, is a four-time Lok Sabha MP, and has been member of the Rajya Sabha for three terms. She won from Vidisha for the second time in a row in 2014.
Swaraj entered the Haryana assembly in 1977, and became a minister in the state cabinet at the age of 25. She is a former chief minister of Delhi and has been part of every BJP government at the Centre.
Reservation for Women
The Odisha Assembly passed a resolution by unanimous voice vote for providing 33% reservation for women in Legislative Assemblies and Parliament.
There are 12 women legislators in the 147-member State Assembly at present.
Kolkata Mayor Resigns from Cabinet
Sovan Chatterjee, one of the key Ministers of the West Bengal government and a close confidant of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, tendered his resignation from the portfolios of Housing Department and Department of Fire and Emergency Services. Mr. Chatterjee, who is also the Mayor of Kolkata, is also expected to relinquish the post.
