Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe is in China on a reset visit that is expected to trigger significant collaboration between Tokyo and Beijing in developing infrastructure in Asia.
Mr. Abe was accorded a reception at the Great Hall of the People. The function was held to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the China-Japan treaty of friendship.
North Korea Wants U.S. to Lift Sanctions
As per reports, a North Korean official has urged the U.S. to immediately lift sanctions against his country, warning that Washington's "confidence-destroying measures" would undermine denuclearisation talks.
The U.S. has insisted on maintaining stringent international sanctions on North Korea until it gives up its nuclear weapons.
JuD, FIF No Longer in Banned Terror Outfits' List
United Nations designated terrorist and 26/11 attacks mastermind Hafiz Saeed's Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD) and Falah-i-Insaniyat Foundation (FIF) are no longer mentioned in the list of banned outfits after a presidential ordinance that prohibited them under a UN resolution lapsed.
Paytm Payments Bank appointed Satish Kumar Gupta as its MD and CEO.
Gupta has held senior roles at SBI and NPCI.
EoI from Investors to Buy out Bridge & Roof Co
The government has invited bids from investors for buying out 100% stake in PSU construction firm Bridge & Roof Company. The bidders have been asked to submit their Expression of Interest (EoI) for buying the company by December 25, 2018.
The company had posted a Profit after Tax of Rs. 16.37 crore and total revenue of Rs. 1,751 crore in 2016-17.
Arundhati Bhattacharya Joins Wipro Board
IT services major Wipro announced that Former SBI chairperson Arundhati Bhattacharya has joined the company's board as an independent director.
Earlier this week, Reliance Industries also appointed Bhattacharya on its board as independent additional director.
HP launched a portable photo printer, the new HP Sprocket Plus, for Rs. 8,999 in India.
Touted as the world's thinnest photo printer, the device produces 30 per cent larger photos (2.3-inch x 3.4-inch), compared to the first HP Sprocket, on HP ZINK paper. The ZINK paper will be available for Rs 799 for a pack of 20.
Citizenship to Minorities from Neighbouring Countries
The Union government has authorised 16 district collectors across seven states to register as Indian citizens Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains, Parsis and Christians from Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh under the Citizenship Act, 1955.
The Congress alleged that the move was aimed at garnering votes in the upcoming assembly elections in five states.
The order will come into effect from December 22. The districts include Raipur (Chhattisgarh); Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar and Kutch (Gujarat); Bhopal and Indore (Madhya Pradesh); Nagpur, Mumbai, Pune and Thane (Maharashtra); Jodhpur, Jaisalmer and Jaipur (Rajasthan); Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh); and West Delhi and South Delhi.
