China's Third Quarter GDP Growth

China's economy grew at 6.5 per cent in the third quarter, posting the slowest growth in nine years, amid intensifying trade war with the US and the mounting local governments.
It's down from 6.8 per cent and 6.7 per cent in the first and second quarters, respectively.

France to Send Aircraft Carrier to Indian Ocean

France would send its aircraft carrier to the Indian Ocean next year, to 'defend freedom of navigation' at a time of growing Chinese assertiveness in disputed waters.
France has always stood in the front line in defence of the inalienable right of freedom of navigation in international waters.

Rules for Cryptocurrency Control

The global watchdog for money-laundering regulation said it would set its first rules by June on how countries should oversee cryptocurrencies.
As per Paris-based Financial Action Task Force (FATF), jurisdictions across the world would be required to licence or regulate exchanges and some firms providing cryptocurrency wallets, in a bid to stamp out the use of digital money for money laundering, terrorism financing or other crimes.
The FATF move represents a landmark moment for cryptocurrency regulation, something that, until now, has defied global coordination and led to a patchwork of differing approaches by national governments.

Fewer District Cooperative Representatives

Maharashtra State Cooperative (MSC) Bank, the apex bank for the cooperative banks in the state, passed a resolution to change the composition of its board and bringing down the directors' number of district cooperative bank from 12 to 6.

Himalayan Peaks Named after Vajpayee

Four Himalayan peaks near Gangotri Glacier have been named after former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
The peaks are located at 6,557 m, 6,566 m, 6,160 m and 6,100 m on the right flank of Gangotri Glacier.
The peaks have been named Atal-1, 2, 3 and 4.

HDFC Bank Q2 Net Profit Rises

HDFC Bank reported a rise of 20.6 per cent in its net profit for the second quarter ended September this fiscal.
Total income for the quarter grew by 21.2 per cent.

Journey to Mercury

As per the European and Japanese space agencies, an Ariane 5 rocket successfully lifted a spacecraft carrying two probes into orbit for a joint mission to Mercury, the closest planet to the sun.
The unmanned BepiColombo spacecraft successfully separated and was sent into orbit from French Guiana as planned, to begin a seven-year journey to Mercury.
