China Postpones Military Talks with US

China summoned the US ambassador in Beijing and postponed joint military talks in protest against a US decision to sanction a Chinese military agency and its director for buying Russian fighter jets and a surface-to-air missile system.
As per China's Defence Ministry, it would recall navy chief Shen Jinlong from a visit to the United States and postpone planned talks in Beijing between Chinese and US military officials that had been set for next week.

Britain's opposition Labour Party prefers a new election to a second referendum on Brexit, heaping pressure on Prime Minister Theresa May whose plans for a deal with the EU have hit an impasse.
The political landscape has changed since May was ambushed by the European Union on Thursday over her plans for Brexit, the biggest shift in British policy for more than four decades.

TSL Inks Pact with Usha Martin

Tata Steel Limited (TSL) has executed definitive agreements for acquisition of the steel business of debt-ridden Usha Martin for a cash consideration between Rs. 4,300-4,700 crore.
The transaction comprises one mtpa specialised alloy-based manufacturing capacity of UML in long products segment based in Jamshedpur, a producing iron-ore mine, a coal mine under development and captive power plants.

Curb On Imports

According to Economic Affairs Secretary Subhash Chandra Garg, the Centre will implement the second set of measures to shore up rupee to 68-70 level against the U.S. dollar.
The Centre has prepared a list of non-essential items whose imports could be curbed and drawn up a separate list of goods whose exports can be boosted with a little policy intervention.

Louvre Hotels Group has introduced Kyraid mid-scale full serve hotel brand in India by appointing Orange Tiger Hospitality Pvt. Ltd. as its master franchisee for this market. The firm has signed up with eight asset owners, whose hotel properties have been rebranded as Kyraid Hotel, and by the end of this financial year, seven more properties will be added.

India and Egypt Defence Cooperation

As per reports, India and Egypt have decided to ramp up their defence and security ties which will include boosting counter-terror cooperation and carrying out joint exercises by their militaries.

Ayushman Bharat Scheme Launched

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched his government's flagship Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojna (AB-PMJAY) billed as the world's largest public health insurance scheme in Ranchi.
Modi who also launched 10 wellness centres in Jharkhand and laid the foundation stones of medical colleges in Chaibasa and Koderma.

Interceptor Missile Tested Successfully

India successfully conducted an interceptor missile test off the Odisha coast, achieving a major milestone in developing a two-layer Ballistic Missile Defence system.
This Prithvi Defence Vehicle (PDV) mission is for engaging the targets in the exo-atmosphere region at an altitude above 50 km of the earth's atmosphere.
Both the PDV interceptor and the target missile were successfully engaged.
