Southern States Outshine in Mobile Banking
According to a report by The Boston Consulting Group (BCG), southern States are outshining the rest of India in mobile banking adoption in savings accounts.
Telangana tops the table with 10% of savings bank accounts having at least one mobile banking transaction in the last six months of FY18.
This is followed by Andhra Pradesh (6.30%), Karnataka (5.50%), Puducherry (5.80%), Tamil Nadu (5%) and Kerala (4.70%). The all-India average is 3.40%.
Hyundai Partners Revv
South Korean automobile major Hyundai Motor Company announced a partnership with Revv, an Indian self-drive car sharing start-up. The partnership will help the two firms build competency and the technology necessary for leading the "future mobility market" in India.
Scientists at Rutgers University in New Jersey have come up with a system that relies on ordinary Wi-Fi to detect explosive devices. It comprises a Wi-Fi device along with a few antennae, and can be integrated with an existing system of Wi-Fi.

LS, RS to Adopt HP's e-Vidhan Model
Himachal's e-Vidhan model will now be adopted and replicated by all 40 Assemblies, Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha in the country to make their functioning paperless and information available at the click of a mouse.
Himachal Vidhan Sabha was the first in the country to go paperless with the launch of e-Vidhan project almost four years back.
Himachal has also become the first state in the country to successfully launch the e- constituency management project which will cover all 68 Assembly segments. Monitoring of all development projects and welfare schemes in each Assembly segment will now be possible at the click of a mouse.
Army Floats Tender for LMGs
In a major change of weaponry for the Army, a tender was issued seeking supply of some 41,000 new light machine guns (LMGs) to equip its infantry battalions.
This is the first change of an LMG�"basic weapon of infantry units�" in the Army's armoury in two decades.
