Infosys to Build Software Centre in Bengal

Infosys Ltd would open a software development centre in the West Bengal, with an investment of about 1 billion rupees ($14.28 million).
The first phase of construction on the 525,000-square feet facility will be able to accommodate 1,000 employees.

Usha Ananthasubramanian Dismissed

The government has dismissed Usha Ananthasubramanian, former managing director of Punjab National Bank and Allahabad Bank, from service.
Ananthasubramanian was, three months back, divested of all her powers as MD of Allahabad Bank, after being named in a CBI charge-sheet in the Rs 14,000 crore PNB fraud case but had continued to be an employee of the bank.

Retail Inflation Slows

As per government data released, retail inflation fell to nine-month low of 4.17 per cent in July on account of slowdown in prices of vegetables and fruits.
Its previous low was in October 2017 at 3.58 per cent.

Tintu Luka Ruled Out of Asian Games

In a major setback for the Indian athletics contingent, Tintu Luka, 800m silver medalist in the 2014 Asian Games, was ruled out of the Jakarta Palembang 2018 Games.
Luka, who was scheduled to appear in a confirmatory trial in Thiruvananthapuram, pulled out of the trials called by the Athletics Federation of India.

Best Indian Cities to Live In

Pune, Navi Mumbai and Greater Mumbai from Maharashtra were ranked India's three most liveable places on the government's inaugural 'Ease of Living Index', where the national capital came at 65th place out of total 111 cities.
The 'Ease of Living Index', the first-ever exercise undertaken by the Union Housing and Urban Affairs Ministry, ranked the country's major cities on the basis of four parameters -- governance, social, economic and physical infrastructure.

Cleanest Railway Stations in India

According to the third cleanness survey, Jodhpur and Marwar railway stations in Rajasthan were declared the cleanest.
Jaipur is at number two and Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh was placed at number three.
NWR was at the eighth spot last year. This year it topped the list.
The South Central Railway (SCR) was declared the second cleanest zone. The East Coast Railway (ECR) was placed at the third spot in the cleanest zones.

Prithvi Reddy Appointed as Overseas Convener

The Aam Aadmi Party appointed senior party leader Prithvi Reddy as its overseas convener.
Reddy has been a national executive member since inception of the party and has held various posts.
