Suspension of Major Military Drills to be Announced

South Korea and the United States are expected to announce the suspension of large-scale military drills this week, with the provision that they would restart if North Korea failed to keep its promise to denuclearize.

As per reports, the suspension was likely to affect only major joint exercises, not more routine military training.

Candidates Selected for ED Posts in PSBs

The Banks Board Bureau (BBB) has selected twenty-two candidates for 19 posts of executive directors which will be falling vacant, or are already vacant, in public sector banks (PSBs), in the current fiscal.

About 40 general managers were interviewed from various public sector banks for the selection of executive directors. The interviews were held last week.

Chandimal Charged Over Ball-tampering

Sri Lanka captain Dinesh Chandimal was charged by the ICC over ball-tampering in the second Test against the West Indies in St Lucia.

The International Cricket Council announced that Chandimal had been charged for breaching Level 2.2.9 of the ICC Code of Conduct.

First Woman Fighter Pilot from Karnataka

Among the 113 flight cadets, who graduated as flying officers of the Indian Air Force, is Meghana Shanbough, who has become the first woman fighter pilot from Karnataka. She has joined the club of five other women fighter pilots of the IAF, who hail from Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh.
