China's J-10C Begin Combat Duty

China's new indigenously developed multi-role stealth fighter jet J-10C, capable of striking precisely both land and maritime targets, were put into active combat duty this month.

The third-generation supersonic fighter jets are equipped with an advanced avionics system and multiple advanced armaments.

Former US First Lady Passes Away

Former U.S. first lady Barbara Bush, the only woman to see her husband and son sworn in as U.S. President has died. She was 92.

She was the wife of the 41st President, George H.W. Bush, and mother of the 43rd George W. Bush.

Barbara Bush was dubbed "The Silver Fox" by her husband and children.

She was first lady when her husband was in the White House from 1989 to 1993.

Rajapaksa Backs End to Executive Presidency

Sri Lanka's former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, who is constitutionally barred from contesting again to become President, has opted to support a proposal to abolish the executive presidency. Under executive presidency, head of the state possesses all relevant executive powers.

India to Grow at 7.4 per cent

According to IMF, India is expected to grow at 7.4 per cent in 2018 and 7.8 per cent in 2019, leaving its nearest rival China behind respectively at 6.6 and 6.4 per cent in the two years.

Flipkart and ASUS Announces Partnership

Homegrown e-commerce company Flipkart and Taiwanese tech company ASUS announced a long-term strategic partnership that will see Flipkart become an ASUS premier partner and seller for its smartphones. This would start with phone models that have been specially designed to address Indian market needs. Flipkart will be the primary sales channel for ASUS ZenFones.

Vedanta Wins NCLT Nod for Electrosteel Takeover

The Kolkata Bench of the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) has cleared the decks for Vedanta Ltd. to acquire Electrosteel Steels Limited by approving the resolution plan submitted by it.

Besides Vedanta, Tata Steel, Renaissance Steel and Edelweiss Alternative Asset Advisors Pte. Ltd. were also in race for Electrosteel.

Electrosteel owns and operates a greenfield integrated steel manufacturing facility near Bokaro, which has a capacity of 1.5 MTPA.

Plastic-eating Enzyme Accidentally Developed

As per reports, scientists have accidentally developed a plastic-eating enzyme that may be used to combat one of the world's worst pollution problems.

The discovery could result in a recycling solution for millions of tonnes of plastic bottles made of PET, which currently persists for hundreds of years in the environment.

All BJP Ministers Asked to Resign from J&K Cabinet

The BJP has asked all its ministers to resign from the Mehbooba Mufti cabinet in Jammu and Kashmir.

As per reports, this is not a move by the BJP to pull out of the coalition government in the state with the PDP, but merely a reshuffle.

The development comes in light of the strain that the alleged rape and murder of an eight-year-old girl has placed on the uneasy partnership between the BJP and the PDP.
