Egypt launches hotline for reporting fake news

Egypt has announced a new hotline for citizens that will run on WhatsApp and will allow them to report news that aims to "to endanger the nations security or public interests". Egypt's citizens can report any fabricated news or violations by sending messages to the General Prosecution office via the WhatsApp hotline.

Martin Vizcarra sworn in as Peru's new president

Martin Vizcarra was sworn in as the country's new president of Peru. Before the appointment, he was Peru's first vice president and ambassador to Canada. He has replaced Pedro Pablo Kuczynski who has resigned from the post.

Pankaj Advani wins Asian Billiards Championships title

Pankaj Advani defended his Asian Billiards Championships title by demolishing his practice partner B Bhaskar 6-1 in the summit clash in Yangon, Myanmar. With this win, Advani remains the reigning Indian, Asian and world champion in billiards for 2017-18. This is Advani's 11th gold medal at the Asian level of cue sports. India's Amee Kamani won the Asian Women's Snooker title by blanking her Thai opponent Siripaporn Nuanthakhamjan 3-0.

India U-16 win Hong Kong Football Tournament

The India U-16 team emerged champions in the Jockey Cup International Youth Invitational Football Tournament with a victory over Hong Kong U-17 in the final in Hong Kong. The tournament was a U-17 event where India fielded their U-16 National Team. This was the team's third consecutive victory in as many days. The team was coached by Bibiano Fernandes.

G.K. Reddy Award for journalist Karan Thapar

Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh presented the G.K. Reddy Memorial National Award for journalism to senior journalist and television presenter Karan Thapar.

First International Exhibition of Graphic Prints 'Print Biennale India 2018' inaugurated

The country's National Academy of Art, the Lalit Kala Akademi hosted the first-ever International Print Biennale in the country with a record number of 17 countries taking part in it. The first-ever International Exhibition of Graphic Prints 'Print Biennale India 2018' opened, at the Rabindra Bhavan Galleries of the Lalit Kala Akademi in New Delhi. The eminent Artist-Printmaker, Shakti Barman was the Chief Guest. The event comprising a total of 200 original prints are created by Indian and international artists of impeccable competence and is a window view into the giant strides in printmaking that is taking place in India and the world.

PM launches renewed farmer, Dalit outreach

Prime Minister Narendra Modi promised that the cost of every input will be factored in while calculating the minimum support price (MSP) for farm produce and said his idea of a New India by 2022 was aligned with Bhim Rao Ambedkar's, signalling an effort to reach out to the Dalit and farmer communities ahead of next year's general elections.

World TB Day Health Ministry launches new initiatives

At the function in New Delhi, the Health Secretary Smt. Preeti Sudan released the TB INDIA 2018 Report and National Drug Resistance Survey Report. She also launched the 'NikshayAushadi Portal' and shorter regimen for Drug-Resistant TB. She further stated that the global target to end TB is 2030 but India will end it by 2025.
