Australia’s High Court disqualified Deputy Prime Minister Barnaby Joyce and four senators from sitting in Parliament in a unanimous ruling that could cost the government its slender majority in Parliament.
The seven judges rejected the government’s argument that five of the lawmakers, including three government lawmakers, should be exempt from the ban because they had not voluntarily acquired or retained citizenship of another country.
Syria Rejects Report for April Sarin Attack
The Syrian government rejected a report sent to the U.N. Security Council that blamed it for a chemical attack on the opposition-held town of Khan Sheikhoun in April in which dozens of people were killed.
The official said that the report had been compiled under instructions from the United States and other Western countries "to place more political pressure" on Syria.

ICICI Bank Net Declines
ICICI Bank reported a 34% decline in its net profit for the quarter ended September 30 as compared with a year earlier. The fall in profit is attributable to the one-time gain of Rs. 5,682 crore booked in the second quarter of the previous financial year.
L&T Scouts for Launch Pads
Larsen & Toubro Ltd. is eyeing Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra and Gujarat for its Rs. 500 crore missile and missile systems plant.
The missile and missile systems plant is being formed in a joint venture with MBDA, a French company. The new joint venture company, L&T MBDA Missile Systems Ltd., will have an equity stake of 51:49.
Besides, L&T, in partnership with South Korean firm Hanwha, would be setting up a battle tank plant at Hazira in Gujarat.

According to a study, one Indian and five Chinese cities have made it to the top-10 fastest growing cities for tourism in the decade between 2016-2026. While Chonging in south-west China took the top spot, New Delhi was placed seventh in a list dominated by Asian cities.
