North Korea fired a missile early that flew over Japan and landed in the Pacific waters off the northern region of Hokkaido.
The last North Korean projectile to fly over Japan was in 2009. The United States, Japan and South Korea considered that launch to have been a ballistic missile test while North Korea said it was a rocket carrying a communications satellite into orbit.

Iran Building Missile Production Sites
According to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Iran is building sites to produce precision-guided missiles in Syria and Lebanon, with the aim of using them against Israel.

Government to sell 5% Stake in NTPC
The government will sell 5 per cent stake in the country's largest power producer NTPC at Rs. 168 per share to raise about Rs. 7,000 crore.
The share sale through an offer for sale (OFS) will happen over two days.
The government has so far this fiscal raised over Rs 8,800 crore through disinvestment in six companies.
Textile Mills Cut Cotton Purchases
Faced with contamination in cotton from Gujarat, the largest producer of the crop in the country, textile mills in the south have cut procurement by about 40% or nearly 15 lakh bales (a bale is 170 kg) from the state during the 2016-17 season (October-September).
Textile mills in the south buy around 40 lakh bales of cotton from Gujarat, which produces nearly 95 lakh bales per season. Some mills have totally stopped buying Gujarat cotton. The contamination results in a fall in the quality of yarn. It also leads to a 5% drop in yarn output.

Dipak Misra 45th Chief Justice of India
Justice Dipak Misra was sworn-in as the 45th Chief Justice of India (CJI), succeeding Justice Jagdish Singh Khehar.
Justice Misra will have a tenure of over 13 months as the CJI.
He was appointed a Judge of the Supreme Court of India in October 2011.
