Kuwait Orders Iran Envoy to Leave
Kuwait ordered the Iranian ambassador to leave the country within 48 days, in an escalating row following a court case which implicated Iranian parties in a spy cell.
Kuwait also ordered the closure of the Iranian military, cultural and trade missions.
Sanctions on 8 Linked to Islamic State
The UN Security Council has voted unanimously to impose sanctions against eight individuals and businesses linked to the Islamic State extremist group and al Qaeda.
The eight additions to the UN sanctions blacklist include IS leaders in Southeast Asia, IS-affiliated extremist groups in Syria, foreign fighters from the Caucuses and illicit money exchange businesses.
Reliance Industries Ltd. reported a 28% jump in first-quarter net profit, helped by higher margins at its refining and petrochemicals businesses and a one-time gain from an asset sale.
Profit, excluding exceptional items, at the energy-to-telecommunications conglomerate climbed 12.8%.

India to Grow at 7.4% in 2017
According to an ADB supplement report, India is expected to achieve the projected growth rate of 7.4 per cent in 2017 and further up 7.6 percent next year on strong consumption demand, with South Asia leading the growth chart in Asia and the Pacific.
Loans via ATMs
Largest private sector lender ICICI Bank will be selling personal loans of up to Rs. 15 lakh through its ATMs that can be availed of by select salaried customers even if they haven't previously applied for one.
Using data from credit information companies, the lender will pre-qualify select customers for personal loans.
If a customer chooses to go in for one, she can avail of a five-year personal loan of up to Rs. 15 lakh and the amount will be credited instantly into her account. The service is already available.
A customer is given multiple amounts to choose from and will be informed about other crucial details like the interest rate, processing fee and monthly instalments, before the transaction is completed by crediting the loan amount into her account.

Chennai Open Renamed as Maharashtra Open

Ran Nath Kovind defeated the former Lok Sabha Speaker after garnering 65.65 per cent of the votes in the electoral college.
He was Governor of Bihar from 2015 to 2017 and a Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha from 1994 to 2006.
Pact to Revive River Saraswati
The Centre and the Government of Haryana inked a pact to revive the long lost River Saraswati and provide water to the drought-prone areas of India.
The Haryana Government and ONGC have signed a Memorandum of Agreement for drilling of 10 water wells along the Petro Channel of Saraswati River up to a depth of 400-500 meters, which will aim at providing water in drought-prone areas.
SIT to Close 1984 Riots Case
The Special Investigation Team (SIT) has decided to close a 1984 anti-Sikh riots case in which two men were killed by a mob in central Delhi as no evidence regarding any accused could be collected during its reinvestigation.
The police told Metropolitan Magistrate Abhilash Malhotra that it has been decided to close the case, which was re- opened following the decision of the SIT.
