French President Emmanuel Macron has picked centre-right mayor Edouard Philippe as his Prime Minister. The appointment of Mr. Philippe, a moderate from France’s mainstream right-wing party Les Republicains, is seen as a strategic move that could secure the support Mr. Macron needs to win a majority in the 577-seat National Assembly, the lower house of Parliament, which goes to the polls next month.
This is the first time in the history of the Fifth Republic that a President has appointed someone from outside his own party without being explicitly required to do so by a parliamentary vote.

HDFC has lowered its mortgage pricing for new low-cost home loans prices by 15 bps to 8.35 per cent from 8.50 per cent for loan below Rs. 30 lakh for women borrowers and by 10 bps to 8.40 percent for men. The new rates will be applicable with immediate effect.
For loans between Rs 30 and Rs 75 lakh, the new rates will be 8.50 percent for all borrowers and for above Rs 75 lakh, new loans will be priced at 8.55 per cent.

Companies Raise Record Rs. 6.41 lakh crore
Indian companies raised a record Rs. 6.41 lakh crore last fiscal through private placement of corporate bonds to meet business needs, a surge of 40 percent from the preceding year.
These funds have been raised mainly for expansion of business plans, repayment of debt and to support working capital requirements.
This is the highest ever fund raising by companies in a financial year since 2001-02.
The world's lightest and smallest satellite, KalamSat, named after the former Indian President Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, will be launched by NASA next month.
The satellite weighs just 0.1kg, and has been been built by an Indian teen Rifath Sharook, 12th-grade student.
As per reports, Sharook developed the satellite as part of a contest Cubes in Space, organised by NASA and idoodlelearning Inc, a global education company.

CTS Ropes in Matt Friedrich
US-headquartered Cognizant Technology Solutions (CTS) has roped in Matt Friedrich as EVP, general counsel and chief corporate affairs officer.
In his earlier role, Friedrich served as chief corporate counsel at Chevron.
He worked for 14 years with the US Department of Justice in various roles.
Friedrich will be involved in all legal affairs, including working with the board on corporate governance and will be a member of the company's executive leadership group.
