As per reports, Russia will not hand back control of Crimea to Ukraine, responding to comments from the White House that the United States expected the Black Sea peninsula to be returned.
US President Donald Trump had made it clear that he expects Russia to relinquish control of the territory.
Russia annexed Crimea in 2014, prompting the United States and the European Union to impose sanctions on Russia, plunging Western relations with the Kremlin to their worst level since the end of the Cold War.
Pakistan Appoints New Ambassador to the US
Pakistan appointed Foreign Secretary Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry as its new ambassador to the US.
He will join his new assignment in Washington, DC next month, replacing outgoing ambassador Jalil Abbas Jilani.
He is presently serving as the Foreign Secretary of Pakistan since December 2013. Earlier he had served as the Spokesperson of the Foreign Ministry.

India’s goods exports recorded positive growth for the fifth consecutive month with shipments in January rising by 4.32% to $22.1 billion following good performance by major sectors such as engineering and petroleum.
Export growth in January was in consonance with the revival exhibited by exports in the previous four months.
Non-petroleum exports in January rose 1.6% to $19.4 billion while petroleum exports increased by 29% to $2.7 billion.
SBI Gets Merger Approval
The Cabinet approved the merger of State Bank of India with five of its associate banks – State Bank of Bikaner and Jaipur, State Bank of Hyderabad, State Bank of Mysore, State Bank of Patiala, and State Bank of Travancore.
The proposal was announced in May 2016 and scheduled for March 2017.

Situated 7,000 light years away from Earth in the constellation Pegasus, the star is so rare that it's only one of seven identified by astronomers in the Milky Way.

ISRO Sets World Record
Indian space agency ISRO scripted history by successfully launching a record 104 satellites, including country's Cartosat-2 earth observation satellite, in a single mission.
ISRO's Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle PSLV-C37 carrying 104 satellites blasted off from the first launch pad at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre.
About 28 minutes into the flight, PSLV first injected Cartosat-2 series satellite into orbit, followed by the other 103 nano satellites, including 96 from the US, in a gap of about 30 minutes.
Five new judges were appointed to the Supreme Court, taking its working strength to 28.
Those elevated are - Madras HC Chief Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul, Rajasthan HC Chief Justice Naveen Sinha, Kerala HC Chief Justice Mohan M. Shantanagouder, Chhattisgarh HC Chief Justice Dipak Gupta and Karnataka HC judge S. Abdul Nazeer.
India to Increase Range of BrahMos Missile
India will increase the range of the supersonic BrahMos cruise missile to 450 km from the present 290 km.
This comes after India became a member of the Missile Technology Control Regime (MTCR) in June 2016.
The MTCR is an informal and voluntary partnership of countries to prevent the proliferation of missile and unmanned aerial vehicle technology capable of carrying above 500 kg payload for more than 300 km.
