Sri Lanka Seeks Donald Trump's Help

  • Sri Lanka`s President Maithripala Sirisena has asked Donald Trump to pressure the UN Human Rights Council to drop war crimes allegations against the country`s troops.
  • There have been allegations that troops killed up to 40,000 minority Tamils during the final battle against separatist Tamil Tiger rebels in 2009.

RBI Introduces Incremental CRR

  • The Reserve Bank of India increased the cash reserve requirement (CRR) for incremental deposits between September 16 and November 11 to 100.
  • The RBI move will require all excess deposits that banks in India are getting because of the demonetisation move, is to be kept with the central bank for which the banks will not earn any interest. Banks will pay interest rate of 4% to depositors, but will earn nothing from RBI on the incremental deposits.
