Sanctions against South Sudan Rebel Leader and Army Chief
The United States proposed that South Sudan's rebel leader Riek Machar as well as the army chief and information minister face UN sanctions for their role in fueling violence in the war-torn country.
Under the proposed measure, Machar, who is receiving medical treatment in South Africa, and the two other officials would face a global travel ban and an assets freeze.
The world's youngest nation, South Sudan descended into war in December 2013, leaving tens of thousands dead and more than 2.5 million people displaced.
Regulator SEBI has lined up as many as five land parcels of the beleaguered Sahara group for an e-auction next month at a total reserve price of over Rs. 130 crore.
In October 13 properties were put on the block and their combined reserve price was about Rs. 1,400 crore.
In July 58 properties were auctioned with a collective reserve price of nearly Rs. 5,000 crore.
In a setback to the Centre, the Supreme Court refused to accept rejection of 43 names by the NDA government that were recommended by its collegium in connection with appointment of judges in various high courts.
The Supreme Court sent back all 43 names for reconsideration by the Union government.
Out of the 77 names recommended to the government, 34 judges were cleared for appointment.
